Kids Offered a Crack at Lawmaking
Prince George, B.C. – Nathan Cullen’s Create Your Canada contest is back for another year.
Launched in 2009, the contest invites grade 11 and 12 students in his Skeena-Bulkley Valley riding the opportunity to learn how federal legislation is created.
Those interested in participating can submit an idea for a bill on an issue within federal jurisdiction.
The ideas are then judged with the winner going on a trip to Ottawa to spend a day with Cullen on Parliament Hill.
The winner’s idea will also be tabled as a private members bill.
“This is an incredibly fun project for students in the riding. Each time we’ve done this, the winners and I, we all had a blast in Ottawa,” says Cullen.
Winning ideas from the past include banning the mining and export of asbestos in Canada, and taxation incentives to encourage ski resorts to offer price breaks and boarders wearing helmets.

Given the left wing slant of the media excepting Ezra, I guess it should be no surprise 250 news gives this wingnut Cullen so much free advertising.
