Forest Union Head Reacts to the Death of Ben Meisner

Prince George, B.C. – A Prince George union head is expressing his sadness at the unexpected and sudden death of 250 News President and veteran broadcast journalist Ben Meisner.

United Steelworkers Local 1-424 President Frank Everitt says Meisner “was a great broadcaster who loved his work.  He was a good friend who gave you support or gave you a pep talk when he thought you were wrong.”

“Everitt says Meisner was a “solid supporter of members of the IWA, now the Steelworkers, as we earned our living in the forest industry.  I can attest to that, an example being when he and Elaine travelled to Fort Nelson to hear firsthand the opportunities available in order to have the sawmill continue to operate in 2010.  He was also a regular attendant at our annual meetings.”

“Ben loved Prince George with a big heart and would and did defend his city to anyone.  We are all deeply saddened with the death of an icon in Prince George and in the entire province of BC.”

“I would like to express our condolences to Elaine and the Meisner family.”
