Houston, B.C. – A highway maintenance worker made a grisly discovery along Highway 16 halfway between Burns Lake and Houston this morning.
North District Corporal Dave Tyreman says the individual found the body of a dead man in the ditch near the 6 mile brake check just after 11:30.
He says the identity of the man is not being released at this time and the cause of death is under investigation.
Police remain on scene. In meantime, the highway remains open to single lane alternating traffic.

“A highway maintenance worker made a grisly discovery…”
So who made the discovery, the police or the highway maintenance worker? We all know the answer, was just pointing out that your headline is incorrect.
Why is one lane of the highway closed if the body was discovered in the ditch, not on the highway? The only situation I can think of where there would be a need to close a lane would be if it looked like there had been a hit and run and they were collecting evidence from the pavement.
” Why is one lane of the highway closed if the body was discovered in the ditch, not on the highway?”
Probably to insure none of the investigators gets hit by one of our braindead drivers cruising our hwy’s.
