Province Rolling Out New Mobile Radio Protocols

Tuesday, April 14, 2015 @ 3:50 AM

Prince George, B.C. – In a bid to improve safety for resource road users the provincial government is rolling out new mobile radio communication protocols.

The changes include new standardized road signs, radio call protocols and a bank of standardized mobile radio channels.

The changes aren’t far off as the Quesnel, Thompson Rivers, Cascades and Okanagan Shuswap natural resource districts will convert to the new protocols and resource road channels starting May 4.

The new protocols will impact forest service roads and other road permit roads in these areas. All affected road users must have the new channels programmed into their mobile radios before the transition dates.

Mobile radio users are advised to retain current radio channels and frequencies until they are no longer required.

New signs posted on local resource roads will advise which radio channels to use and provide the communication protocols, including the road name and required calling intervals.

This is good news if it gets everyone on the same channel.

In other news I heard on the radio this morning that Harper just declared war with Russia through our alliance with his fascist leadership in Kiev. Apparently Canadian troops are on the way… and our new allies the Right Sector paramilitary group have launched attacks using tanks and mortars on the DPR cease fire line ending the Minsk cease fire agreement.

Harper has handed the decision for Canadian war with Russia to a fascist thug organization that before the war the EU labeled a nazi group. This is déjà from the late 1930’s and Britains war guarantee to a billigerant Poland out sourcing Britains right to declare war.

Good grief. What on earth does Harper have to do with radio usage on resource roads?

First what planet is eagleone from.

All the new road chanels are “toned”. All the old privately owned radios will hear the km’s called but not be heard by the newer ones.

No Eagleone.. It doesn’t get everyone on the “same channel” the RR-### channel bank has about 100 more channels so that the same channel isn’t used for multiple roads in a geographical area. The other idea behind the change is to standardize the channel names across the whole province.. I have personally used this system working in the north east corner of the province and the system works well.. No more cross calling. Only disadvantage is that you have to buy a radio with a bigger channel bank which means more$$..

Channels are no longer toned and there are only 40 of them. It should be a huge improvement. Tones were only used at first and they were found to cause as many issues as the cured.

Eagleone, while I have no axe to grind for the Ukrainian government, and would not like to see us at war with Russia, Putin is not exactly a nicely-behaved liberal democrat. He’s a good candidate for the epithet “fascist thug” himself. What makes you think that Russia is the good guy in this?

What are the protocol changes?

so very good to hear the voice of logic and reason! even if it is sort of off topic. eagleone, you are a source of perfect clarity to resounding depths.

billposer, what is this “ukrainian government” you speak of? sounds quite like a myth or fantasy to me.

and on the the topic of the article, it would great if everyone that used the ‘resource’ roads was equipped with a radio each. i hope northman’s speculation that increased cost, and thus a larger barrier, will not be the result, or at least for long.

I am perplexed. Are you unaware of the existence of the country called “Ukraine” and its government?

Anyone have any luck trying to find out what these new frequencies are? I’ve been looking to no avail. I’d like to program the radio before I get to the road.

Eagleone, good one… isn’t it a known fact in the region that Russia is not helping the separatist rebels? Hasn’t he stated it many times in his speeches? Any Russian soldiers fighting in Ukraine are just volunteers on leave are they not?

So we are in fact going to help train Ukraine troops to help them keep the rebels from overrunning the country, you see Ukraine got its independence in 1991 from the USSR since they were defeated in 1922 by the red army. Perhaps you didn’t hear about the russification of the 1930s where millions of Ukrainians died of starvation (holodomor) better known as “extermination by hunger”

Maybe you didn’t know the UN said the following “The actions by the Russia-backed separatists in Debaltseve are a clear violation of the ceasefire. The separatists must stop all military activities. Russia and the separatists have to immediately and fully implement the commitments agreed to in Minsk”. So… who fired on whom?

Back to the radio calling. Always wondered who assigned the radio channels as we would get overlap whenever two roads maintained by the same company got close together. Better channels are assigned by someone with an overview map. Gotta get my radio reprogrammed, hopefully it doesn’t need any new cards for the new frequencies…

I headed for the washroom only to find that the door was locked. Once again Harper had screwed things up.

Billposer, I don’t think Russia is the good guy. I just don’t think Canada should be picking sides and involving ourselves in a conflict that is entirely of their own making in the Ukraine. Russia has its own police state issues, but at least Putin isn’t on a campaign to terrorize the innocence to achieve a political agenda like the Ukrainian leadership.

Putin has said, as per the Minsk agreement (that Harper is trying to destroy), that this would all end if the Ukrainian government would respect the civil rights of the Russian speaking population, and negotiate in good faith a federal state of government similar to what we have in Canada and the US. How else can this end, because it surely won’t end well using violence to achieve the aims of the Keiv regime… Putin won’t allow that.

The Ukraine government that came to power through a coup is rated by the UN as the most corrupt government in the world. They are running ethnic cleansing campaigns using fascist paramilitary groups on the EU terror list throughout the East of the their country based solely on the language one speaks… and that is just not something Canada needs to support. Heck they even put the Ex-Georgian PM Shakashvilli in charge of the war effort even though he is wanted for war crimes in his own country.

What is Harpers aim here… why involve Canada in a direct war with Russia… is his aim democracy and human rights, because if that is the aim it is a massive failure. The Ukraine canceled all human rights when they passed their equivalent of the war measures act that gives the state rights over anyone’s assets and forced conscription. One is not even allowed to advocate for peace with Russia in their legislature without getting locked up in prison… much less talk of the atrocities committed by their government against the internal refugees from their policies.

Kiev is the ancient capital of the Russian people, so its an internal issue for them to settle and not ours to stir up more trouble.

I know full well of the ‘great terror’ committed in the 1930’s, have studied it in great length, and the people clinging to power now in Ukraine are of the same bolshivik ilk as those that ran the NKVD and cheka terror apparatus during the great famine and Russian holocaust of 60 million Christians (I am beside myself why Canada would support a regime with that kind of perigee… I understand it involves Harpers loyalty to Israel, but that is a bridge to far for Canadian dignity IMO). Simply put Harper is siding with some of the worst war criminals in the world and he risks dragging Canada into a war at their choosing to defend the indefensible.
