Prince George, B.C. – Emergency personnel in Prince George were called into action this morning at the city’s airport.

RCMP and Prince George Fire Rescue members assembled at the north end of the airport while  airport fire crews were placed on standby beside the runway at YXS shortly after 8 this morning following reports that a small aircraft was coming in with one of its engines dead.

The pilot and apparent lone occupant of the twin-engine Beechcraft Baron 58P, which was flying out of Alberta, managed to land safely and without incident at the airport at about 8:30 am.

The cause of the engine failure is now being looked into.

UPDATE:  Lindsay Cotter, Manager of Communications at the Prince George airport, says the plane was on its way from Fort St John to Vernon when the engine problem developed.  She says the privately-owned aircraft had the pilot and three passengers aboard.

8:15 am Saturday…driving down 1st ave, just before railway tracks, Myself and 4 others pulled over to let 4 emergency vehicles thru. As the emergency vehicles were going to the Airport….3 vehicles going in the same direction, didn’t even bother pulling over, and yes the sirens & lights were on. Pay attention people….other vehicles are behind you even though you may think you own the road. Thanks to the Emergency Vehicles for being there.
Hope everyone is well concerning this incident.:)

Couple things, I’m don’t follow how the story goes from “pilot and apparent lone occupant” to “pilot and three passengers aboard”. And Pineview Volunteer Fire Department was also staged with YXS Red 1 at the South end of runway.

Somerled, the 3 passengers is part of the “update” section of the story.

Okay that makes sense.
