Prince George, B.C.- Patients in the Paediatric ward of the University of Northern BC Hospital in Prince George are now linked to the net.A fundraising effort by students of the Project Management program at UNBC, have provided 16 medical grade arms that can hold iPads for the young patients in the paediatric ward.
“They raised about $50 thousand dollars” says Northern Health’s Fiona MacPherson who is with Northern Health’s IT department.
“It’s never a pleasant experience to be in the hospital, and this will help make their stay a little better” adds MacPherson. The dollars not only bought the 16 arms, there was enough money for 16 iPads, necessary cables and connections and enough left over to provide $14 thousand dollars in credits for iTunes to upgrade programs and apps for the iPads.
As part of the program’s course students needed to plan and execute a project, they chose to supply entertainment equipment for the UHNBC’s paediatric department .
The 18 students in the program raised the money through local donations and a raffle.
