Prince George, B.C. – The Prince George School Board expressed its opposition to Bill 11 tonight.
Trustee Sharel Warrington called it “a slap in the face” and said if enacted (its going through second reading in the B.C. Legislature this week) it would seriously “erode” the autonomy of school boards and restrict board decisions.
The education bill was introduced earlier this spring by the provincial government and could have implications for teachers professional development as well.
The motion called for the school district to write letters to Premier Christy Clark and Education Minister Peter Fassbender opposing the bill and was passed unanimously.
