Fire Strikes Two City Homes Friday Night

Prince George, B.C. – Prince George Fire Rescue crews were busy dealing with two house fire Friday night.

At approximately 6 pm crews responded to a house fire in the 200 block of Kelly Street north. Firefighters from three halls found smoke and flames coming from the second floor area at the front of the home.   Assistant Chief Greg Wilkins says the made an interior attack and were able to quickly knock down the flames.

Damage was primarily contained to the second floor, however smoke damage is significant. No dollar estimate is available at this time.

No one was home at time of the blaze.

Then at about 7 pm firefighters were called to a house fire off  Chief Lake Road in the 8500 block of McGuire Road.

Again crews from three halls responded an d found heavy smoke and flames coming from the back of the home and extending to the roof. They managed to extinguish the flames, but not before the home sustained substantial damage from fire and smoke.

Assistant Chief Wilkins says two people were home when the fire started and got out safely.  In both fires there were no reported injuries.

Preliminary investigations, in both fires, suggest that they started accidentally.
