Midnight Boat Rescue

Monday, May 11, 2015 @ 4:13 AM

tPrince George, B.C. – Five boaters are safe and sound following a late night rescue on the Nechako River.

Prince George Search and Rescue (SAR) and the RCMP were alerted to the situation after they failed to return from a day trip yesterday.

The boat was discovered just after 1am this morning on a gravel bar while its occupants had managed to start a fire on a nearby island to stay warm.

SAR rescue say things could have turned out worse as the boat wasn’t equipped with enough life jackets or with any means to signal for help.

In light of this situation, they remind anyone headed out on the water to leave with the proper safety equipment and to tell people where they are going.

Send people the bill for their rescue and people will start to smarten up hopefully.

You can get cell service on most of the Nechako. Where were these idiots??

Hey Sine, hopefully if you ever get into trouble while out in your car you don’t get billed for the help you get.

giterdun, why are they idiots?

Just a guess but I think this may be why:

“..the boat wasn’t equipped with enough life jackets or with any means to signal for help.”

LOL, that’ll do it.
