UHNBC Unveils New Equipment

Prince George, B.C.- It is called a Diagnostic Spect CT scanner, and it is fully operational at the University Hospital of Northern B.C.This special piece of equipment was made possible through donations made to the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation.
Valued at $1.4 million dollars, this new piece of equipment can detect cancer, cardio vascular problems and even spot some types of dementia.
The first patient to go through the scanner did so in December, but today was the first opportunity for the media to get an up close look at the scanner.
It can easily handle any patient who is 3 feet wide, and 6 foot 6 tall, and if the patient is taller, the bed portion can be extended.
