Relay for Life Crosses Half Million Mark
Prince George, B.C.- The Relay for Life has topped the $500 thousand dollar mark, and donations are still trickling in.“Since crossing that level, we have had some other donations delivered to our office, but they haven’t been processed yet” says Helen Owen, Team Lead, Community Giving Canadian Cancer Society.
Last year, Prince George received top honours for collecting more donations during a Relay for Life than any other community in the country. Owen says it’s too early to say if that record will stay intact “Most relays are getting underway this weekend through June, so we won’t know for a while if that number one ranking will stand.”
Donations can still be made to the cause, by either dropping off a donation at the office at 1100 Alward Street, or by making a donation online at www.relayforlife.ca/princegeorge .

I have to say that I have never seen such a dedicated and committed group of individuals willing to raise money for “The Relay for Life”. Their hearts and their pocket bucks are proof of this.
However, has their been any reduction in the number of people getting cancer? Has their been any new discoveries in the cause of cancer?

Given that only about 20% of the money raised goes to research it’s not surprising that there hasn’t been as much headway as one would hope.
