“Forest tent caterpillars are starting to chow down on Winnipeg trees, prompting the city to take action.” So what does it take for our city or Ministry of Forests to take action here. They spray for gypsy moths in the lower mainland and around Victoria. Why isn’t it being done here? My neighbour had to cut down his birch. After being hit hard by caterpillars two years in a row they were dead.

No big surprise; I have never been a fan of the Christy Clark government, however, this is one of those instances where my dislike for our provincial government migrates towards contempt and disgust.
So… the official opposition asks, through a formal Freedom of Information request, that the Liberal government provide information on any meetings it has concerning the Highway of Tears. Yet when the information is found to exist, in the form of a number of emails, that information is intentionally deleted. The reason why that information was deleted, you would ask? Because in the words of a B.C. Liberal caucus research director; “It’s like in the West Wing. You do whatever it takes to win.”
IMO, there is not one iota of doubt that this government is beyond being morally and ethically bankrupt, we actually have a very sick government on our hands! I weep for a return to open, honest, accountable government, and I mourn the loss of our democracy.

So crustys party deleted a few emails.. Let see how this plays out…lol
Happy Friday Folks
Looks like the NDP might take it all over.
No sure I’m ready for that much change.
Other than that, awesome summer.
I don’t think it is any one political party that is the problem it is a majority government that is the problem… everytime!
Majority governments tend to do just what they want with impunity. Yes it takes government longer to get things done if it is a minority government but hey, they are getting paid to work all year, less holiday time, let them work.
Sophic Sage- How true and this type of behavior has been going on for a long time.

Someone actually read an Eagleone post? Colour me surprised.
Looked like there was a major incident at the Highway 97 / Austin Road intersection last night.
Workbc, and the BC jobs plan
What has been your experience?
Is it working for you?
A breath of fresh air…. Peter MacKay is announcing today that he’s leaving politics, and will not be running in October.
Now that would be interesting, if true he has landed a nice corp job.
Eagleone, could you please expand on the significance of this “City of London” and how it relates to David Cameron’s decision making and agenda? I understand the City of London is a separate entity from London; the metro city we all think about and that it has different rules. I am just looking for a little more information.
Thanks!
The City of London is a separate entity of a square mile that is run by and for the bankers. It has only 7000 residents, but over 60,000 corporate voters. It is akin to the Vatican in Rome and even the Queen of England has no authority within the ‘City’. Most central banks around the world are owned and operated by entities within the ‘city’.
The City of London is not and should not be confused with Metropolitan London.
Why are Jews always talked about as a race? It’s a religion….
Are the mosquitoes and blackflys driving you crazy yet? Just trying to get the garden planted and they are out in full force. Guess it doesn’t help that the Nechako River is at a very high level. Rio Tinto Alcan fudged up again, just ask some homeowners in Vanderhoof.
Arrgghhhh!! I hate these damn caterpillars! This is the 4th year of these things. I was hoping they’d move on or die or something.
Good question PVal.
Veterans Today had an interesting article on the War in Yemen. I guess the Saudi’s and Israeli are tight partners in their anti Iran war in Yemen (as well as support of isis).
Turns out you-tube has video of what appears to be a neutron bomb used on a hardened Yemeni position. A full mushroom cloud and lightening within the cloud and the whole works. The size is consistent with the size of nuclear bombs that were stolen from America to seed the Israeli nuclear bomb arsenal. These were the nukes they would shoot from a cannon as a tactical warhead for taking out tank battalions on the battlefield and were later deemed redundant as they were deemed to risky in leading to an all out nuclear war.
Then turns out the Yemeni shoot down two F-16 fighter jets that were of a model only sold to Israel (a model that can carry nuclear weapons and had extra fuel tanks for long range)… these Israeli planes were painted with Saudi colors so as to hide Israeli involvement in Yemen.
So typical Israel, they use a neutron bomb to intimidate Iran by showing they can use it and the world won’t say peep… and yet demand that Iran not be allowed to have a nuclear industry of their own, or they will nuke them too. That aught to get Iran to stop their nuclear program….
Facts are Israel is a rouge state that very well could get the world into a nuclear war with its aggressive tactics in Syria, Lebanon, Gaza, and Yemen. Shame on our leaders for allowing them to get away with nuclear proliferation and blackmail.
“Why are Jews always talked about as a race? It’s a religion….”(PVal)
The Jews are the people, their religion is called Judaism.
@Troutburn..
They deserve to die with fire.. all of them..!! Just dont burn the country down in the process.. Although burning the little bastards would be quite sastisfying if you after a non toxic or destructive option..Dawn dishsoap in a garden sprayer works quite well.. You need to get the orginal blue Dawn though..
Good luck..! Cheers..
Yes but they are not a race.. Anyone can become a Jew.. Not everyone can become a East Indian, Italian etc .
Latest rat to jump ship . Justice minister Peter mackay ! Hope he watched the Omar doc . He’s a better man than you will ever be peter . Cue the harperettes .
Loki: Re the BC Jobs Plan, I think it works best for the company that gets the contract. They are paid millions of dollars and make their stats look great by even being allowed to classify a one month minimum wage job as a “job created”. It looks and sounds good though.
PVal – yes it is true that Jews are not a race – it is also true that East Indians and Italians are also not a race – there are four races: black, white, red, and yellow.
As for Omar Khadr – what has happened to him is atrocious! Today, after watching the interview last night, for the first time in over 50 years I am ashamed to be a Canadian. I don’t think we will ever be able to make up to him what happened. Yet another reason to get Harper out of Government.
All the ranting about the mideast crises, perhaps we should consider this.
If Israel’s neighbors laid down their weapons what would be the result? —PEACE! Israel has bever stated that they ever wanted to eradicate its neighbours.
If Israel laid down its weapons what would be the result? —NO MORE ISRAEL as all its neighbours have sworn to erasicate Israel from the face of the earth.
Sorry, should read never not “bever”
Never / bever no need to say sorry . Only an idiot would not be able read through a typo . Oh , I get it . You apologizing to idiots .
I would like to know who will be paying for having the street signs changed to Punjabi? I thought English and French were our national language! Until the laws change, the signs should only be in OUR national language! Also, we are all ONE community!! Here we go with segregation again. That is why there are so many problems in society. Segregation without segregating!!
Gotta love this site. In one corner is charles, who is only capable of directing people to websites, and on the other side we have longwinded Eagleone who is only too happy to expand on his opinion. Great entertainment.
Can’t believe we have already had a full month of summer weather!
I wish I could move to Kamloops.
No dandelions, their dog park is a thing of beauty, situated on the river with benches for people to sit on as the dogs frolick.
Alas work keeps me here.
I shall make the best of it
Miss G…. if you’re ever visiting the lower mainland, take a gander through Richmond. You’ll be lucky to find English on any sign, whether it’s a business or advertising.
You have to laugh at the tempest in a tea cup, the sniveling left are trying ever so hard to attach themselves to. Oh, some staffer deleted a bunch of emails. Big deal. As we know from the Ontario Liberals (that would be your whining left’s version of the Liberals), it takes a professional consultant to erase all emails from the server. How about contacting Hillary Clinton, and let her enlighten how the sniveling left avoids disclosing emails?
Nobody has taken the time to ask whether their are any copies and when they will be retrieved from the server. Nobody denies that they can be recovered, just that some dipper bureaucrat, who has been living off the public teat for years, finally finds himself separated from his cushy gold plated union job (which his union didn’t feel like contesting), and he sends navel gazing, handwringing dippers into a frenzy..over nothing. baaaa…You wonder why this collection of misfits will never unseat even the most corrupt or incompetent government in this province? The smarmy self righteous attitude ensure the electorate will hold their collective noses and vote RIGHT every time.
In your dreams jimmy . I guess you didn’t notice what happen to jimmy prentice over in Alberta . Another of little Stevie blunders hand picked minions .
If Stevie is such a dynamo ,why is Canada’s economy contracting .
“You wonder why this collection of misfits will never unseat even the most corrupt or incompetent government in this province”
Which begs the question…. if you vote for corruption does that make you complicit in corruption? Ultimately the voters decide who holds power, but if the party in Gov’t is corrupt and you still vote for them without a sword at your neck, what does that say about the voter?
Pfft..Alberta’s tanking will ensure the NDP never get near the keys to the legislature. Not for the reasons you may think. They will prove, like Glen Clark did, that they are just as beholden to big oil as any other government before. The hypocrisy within disorganized labour is truly breathtaking. I can’t wait until Notley presses for more TAR sands oil to pass through BC. Gonna be worth the price of admission to watch the whining left feed on itself.
Brother Gecko…….Richmand may have a lot of Chinese signage, however who says it is right? The Cinese invasion has been allowed by run-a-way governments to a point where if an referendum were held the winner would certainly be the Chinese. I think a referendum should be held before any signage in a foreign language is permitted. Furthermore, Richmond, in my opinion, is not a very good example of multicultural mix when the dominant people are South Asian.
I have lived under a dictatorship and didn’t mind it at all. Democracy is overrated, but while it does exist, I’ll exercise my right to tick whatever box I please, for whatever reasons I please. I don’t need a union boss or priest to tell me who to vote for.
Albatross..you lost the election here in BC. Not that long ago. What happened in Alberta is more of a testament to your parties absolute ineptitude. The NDP here were predicted to WIN, not have their collective arses handed to them. Let Albertans spilt the right vote and suffer for 4 years. They get the government they deserve, and when the right of center electorate gets back together, the dippers will be eradicated again.
It is all cyclical, only it takes the left a long time , (almost 2 generations) to distance themselves from the last time they stunk up the legislature.
I’m sure most Albertans are happy that the Tories went for a time out. Long serving governments need a change once in a while.
The majority in Richmond are south Asian ? That’s race baiting . The majority in Richmond are Canadians . That’s what they become when they join us as citizens , Canadians . Ultimately we have only one race , the human race .
And here I was thinking it was a Rat Race to the bottom. Who knew?
Ataloss. Peter Mackay was in Government for 20 years. How long did you want him to stay. 30?? 40??. When he decides to leave he is a rate jumping the ship, however if stayed he would still be a rat in your opinion.
At least he had a ship to jump from, which is a hell of a lot more than the NDP will ever have.
Have a nice day.
By that measure Jenny Kwan is a rat jumping one ship to get on a bigger one. Just think of all the free trips she and her kids can scam off the federal dime!
As for the emails- I have it on good authority that there was a convicted forger skulking around the legislature halls and the staffer wanted to ensure the documents were legit and not cooked up by this nefarious charlatan.
Good morning to all my friends in George I see you are under this gray cloud this morning. Wonder if it’s the politicians in your area. Nice to hear Peter the great is stepping down. Probably has a new girl friend that keeps him busy. Wonder if Pal will be replacing him?
And remember that if you have bad government maybe we have bad voters that forget about their franchise at election time. When you have only 42 % of the electorate turning out to vote that does not leave much direction for the government.
I would think that a 42% turn out means that probably it’s the voters with a vested interest in government that are getting good government.
Well I had better leave it at that before I get into trouble.
Cheers
Hey Bob Zimmer; last week you quoted your government’s talking points in response to a Peter Ewert editorial. In your response titled “Most Opposition to Bill C-51 “Hype” says Zimmer” you state; a lot of those “seriously concerned” about the bill haven’t read it… and once they’ve read it, there’s some that come back to me with a straight up question and I can answer it,” he says. “But most of it (opposition) is hype.”
Interesting that the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), the world’s largest security-oriented intergovernmental organization, recently performed a legal analysis of Bill C-51 and found it to be in violation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, both of which Canada has ratified. In other words, Mr. Zimmer, your government’s Bill C-51 anti-terrorism legislation violates international laws. Could you please reassure us that the OSCE, a Vienna-based group, which Canada joined in 1973, is only “hyping” this issue, and that they have not read Bill C-51 either? To help you with your informed response, here is a link to said subject matter:

Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others. Winston Churchill
If we in BC are going to get into the LNG market, we better do it now instead of later. The window is closing, and it’s ramming shut quickly. This according to Thierry Bros, one of the world’s leading experts in natural gas.
Here’s some of the competition:
Texas is bringing a new plant online shortly, making for a total of 5 running in the USA. Federal regulators have received 15 more applications to start production, and further more are in the planning stage.
Seven LNG facilities have received Final Investment Decision in Australia, and they are set to be the world’s largest LNG exporter by 2018.
Russian (with huge reserves) recently signed a 2 large deals with China and will be supplying 17% of China’s LNG needs. Africa is expanding production in Tanzania and Mozambique, but infrastructure could be an issue.
Here in BC, we can’t even sell a fart without some red tape and/or court challenge getting in the way of production.
It’s sure interesting that the most vehement opponents of Bill C-51 are the same people that are all for government trampling all over other people’s private property rights. They seem to have a belief that the only ‘right’ attached to the ownership of anything is to pay whatever taxes *they* decide should be imposed to retain that privilege, and no one can do anything else on any property unless *they* grant their approval.
I think such people can be divided into two classes. One are those who believe they can break any law with impunity if it violates their conception of how the world should be run; and the other are the paranoid who believe they are far more important in the overall scheme of things than they are, and that the government is watching their every move, when, in reality, the government doesn’t even know they exist or could care less that they do.

You’ve lost me socredible. Can you provide some tangible examples of what you speak of?
The BC Review Board has approved Allan Schoenborn escorted outings. What the hell is wrong with these Board members? I think THEY should be the ones who have to escort this useless sack of excrement.
So tell me, socredible, in your world of “people who are far more important in the overall scheme of things”, how important are those who overthrew those who thought they controlled society by violent revolution, quiet resistance, votes, and whatever other means have been used over millennia?
What is the name of the escort service Schoenborn will be able to use?
“I wish I could move to Kamloops.
No dandelions, their dog park is a thing of beauty, situated on the river with benches for people to sit on as the dogs frolick.

Must be horrible knowing you can’t get work in another city?
Jimmy Hughes don’t you sell tools to union employees all over town?
I don’t think the child killer should have escorted outings. I think he should get unescorted outings.
Did anyone else witness the YRB sign construction fiasco along Hwy 16 west this week? I believe it took them 3 days to erect 4 signs indicating the construction of a new section of passing lane around Telachick Road. They actually had flag people controlling single lane only traffic so they could construct the signs right on the closed lane of the hwy.
HUH?
Gotta be a right wing waste taxpayers money thing in action again.
johnnyb45 – I don’t think the dogs care if their parks are beautiful. They just want them to smell good.
northman at first I thought you were talking about burning the Jews lol.
I recently noticed a new road sign pointing the way to the new winery. Does that mean we get to sample some of the product soon? (:
Peter MacKay’s decision to leave politics represents a serious blow for the Harper government and a final, symbolic farewell to the last vestige of the former Progressive Conservative party, pundits and critics in Atlantic Canada say.
====================================================================
Above is a news release by Canadian press. So there you go Pal. It wasn’t that he had enough time in it was more about, ” can I survive another election”. Like I said before you should replace Peter with all your knowledge and wisdom.
Cheers
Just watched one of the most hilarious YouTube videos about the recent NDP win in Alberta. It really helps define the downfall of the Harper regime. Here is the link, with apologies to charles:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyXyxLiDtHo&sns=fb
Why don’t people get it? MacKay has had 20 years in politics and maybe it’s just time for a change. Media thumps it up and sensationalizes it and looks for any reason to keep it in the news. Get over it, he’s served us well, he deserves to relax.
Dumbfounded: Yes there were probably lots of us scratching our heads over that one. I’ve never seen that before. Let’s see them try that down south! There you have to get a permit to block one lane to load a machine on a lowbed.
And to the little blond who passed the school bus on Chief Lake Rd. at about 2:58 this afternoon at Wildrose Rd., didn’t you learn anything out of the driver’s manual? Small white car with an ‘N’ in the rear window, westbound. If I had thought quicker, I would have spun a uey and got your license number. Maybe the motorcycle or the other vehicle behind him got it. I hope so.
I wonder if those amazing examples of society on the board that oversees the child killer will invite him over for an outing with their own families.
I wonder what qualifications are required to be on that board and pay rate.
Hmmm… when Grizzly2 refers to Peter MacKay as having; “served us well, and that he deserves to relax”, he must be referring to a different Peter MacKay than the one I knew as Justice Minister.
“Canadians can rest assured that we draft our legislation to ensure it is compliant with the Canadian Constitution.” ~ Peter MacKay … unfortunately the facts and MacKay’s own losing record with court decisions, many of which were based his legislation being unconstitutional, showed us how out of touch he was from reality.
Here is hoping Peter enjoys his retirement; making samitchs, bare footed in the kitchen for his family, and taking fishing trips without the assistance of our military helicopters. So long Peter MacKay, we will always remember you as the lovable, misogynistic, incompetent, fool that you are.
Palopu , I did not understand your ndp quip or comparison or why you keep at me about the ndp . I’m a Green . I gave up on them when they chose Horgan . Federally I’m a hold my nose ndp . If the greens put up Micky mouse in my riding . I’m voting Micky or who ever they can find .
@sophic don’t you just find it ironic that the same people that complain about the civil service being on the public teat , will find career polititions perfectly fine . Few public servants become millionaires after just a decade or two in politics like Steve , Baird , Mulroney , wright , etc. etc. etc. from mailroom boy to millionaire . I wonder if they are living on tax free dividends and distributions in their TFSAs .
Perhaps an astute observation about Grizzly2 on your part Ataloss, haven’t been following this site that closely, until I recently joined. My preferance is to stick to comment content that can be supported by facts… conservatives and reformers hate facts, it messes with their attempts to spread their Bull Chite ideology. Peter MacKay “served us well” WTF?
“In its basic form, Credit is someone’s promise to pay “money” at some point in the future. Credit instruments are an “IOU.” Importantly, new Credit/“IOUs” create additional purchasing power. Especially late in prolonged Credit booms, financial instruments and claims come to account for enormous amounts of system “wealth.” Crises are the process of rectifying the divergence that develops between financial wealth and actual underlying economic wealth. This process invariably unmasks the systematic wealth redistribution that gathered momentum throughout the boom cycle.”
(Remove the space between http and : and put into your computer’s address bar)
http ://creditbubblebulletin.blogspot.ca/2015/05/my-weekly-commentary-out-of-thin-air.html
All ‘money’ is, or is based on, ‘credit’, Charles. It is merely credit, an intangible, represented in a tangible form. When any bank makes a loan it is making a new creation of credit that didn’t exist before. The process is contractual, and we say that the money was created “out of nothing” because the terms of the contract between banker and borrower didn’t exist before. Not until they were set down in the form of a properly drawn up Promissory Note, signed by the borrower, (which is his “promise to pay”, and enforceable at law, whereas an ‘IOU’ is simply an acknowledgement of debt, and contains no contractual obligation whatsoever.)
So now that MacKay is gone, are they going to officially go back to being the Reform Party?
“Crises are the process of rectifying the divergence that develops between financial wealth and actual underlying economic wealth. This process invariably unmasks the systematic wealth redistribution that gathered momentum throughout the boom cycle.”
—————————————————————————————–
Crises occur with inevitable regularity because the current financial system is not fully ‘self-liquidating’. In other words, the ‘costs’ of production, initiated and facilitated by creations of new bank credit in the forms of loans, cannot be fully recovered through ‘prices’ as that production becomes consumption. We can’t fully pay FOR what we’ve done FROM what we’ve done. And can only try to do so through what we’re doing, or are going to have to do ~ a mathematical impossibility.
Im editing piles of dash cam video from the Prince George area that I have been recording for the past few months. It includes commercial and private vehicles engaged in dangerous driving incidents among other stupid people moves. Once I get enough footage together I will be posting it on a FB page I will be creating. I will inform you all once it is up and running. Maybe you will get to see yourself on the big screen.
Good job Tampa Bay Lightning and their coach Prince Georges own Jon Cooper.
NMG:-“So now that MacKay is gone, are they going to officially go back to being the Reform Party?”
—————————————————————————————–
I think they’ll remain the Conservative Party, which is really all the ‘Reform Party’ was ever intended to be anyway. The roots of the Reform Party were supposedly the Alberta Social Credit Party, and its long Alberta dominated Federal counterpart, the old Social Credit Party of Canada. And neither, under the leadership of Earnest Manning, long time Alberta Premier, or his son, Preston, who was the original Reform Party leader, were ever anything other than ‘conservative’. Fiscally conservative, and in a way that was certainly devoid of any of the original reforms proposed by ‘genuine’ Social Credit. That’s not to say that Manning didn’t provide good governance in Alberta, nor that the present Conservative Party of Canada government hasn’t had some creditable accomplishments. They have, I believe they’ve been, on balance, one of our better governments. But the financial ‘flaw’ that the original Social Credit Party was formed to rectify still exists, and it hangs like the ‘sword of Damocles’ over the head of any ‘conservative’ party, anywhere.
In politics there are only two rules.
1. Get elected.
2. After you get elected, start planning for success in the next election.
All those that are against Harper and the Conservative Government were of course either Liberals, NDP’ers, or Greens, and they have been out of Government for sometime. Especially the NDP who have never been in Government Federally.
So what we have here is Harper and MacKay, who re-established the Conservative Party, and have been in Government for the past 9 years, with a good chance of being there for another 4 years.
This can only be described as a success story. Anyone who cannot appreciate the time, effort, and political genius it took to form this Government and have it stay in power, has no idea how politics works.
Harper and MacKay accomplished in a very short time what the NDP/CCF has been trying to accomplish for the past 60 years to no avail.
Critizing Harper and MacKay doesn’t change anything. They won, and you lost. Such is the way of life.
Come October you can try once again to win, and who knows, perhaps this time around you might actually have a chance, however I wouldn’t bet on it.
Open carry about to become law in Texas!
“I ain’t screwing with that guy, he’s packing heat”. Says the guy that has previously mugged dozens on the streets of Houston Texas.
Soon to be coming to a Canadian province near you.
In our society winners are appreciated. Whiners are frowned on.
Eloquently put Palopu . That’s where the really sad (whine) part lies . The only democratic time for the governed is the few seconds in the voting booth . After that it a parliamentary dictatorship in which parliament can impose its will on us all , with no recourse from , us , the many .
Alrighty, I just fell off the turnip truck…. I had no idea Jon Cooper was from PG. That’s awesome stuff. I was happy enough just for TB to wipe that stupid smirk off Alain Vigneault’s face.
The Truth in Sentencing Act; a “centrepiece” of the Tory tough on crime agenda, was meant to curb a judge’s ability to give an inmate extra credit for time spent behind bars before sentencing. The Supreme Court of Canada ruled against parts of that Act, and that same Act received another slap down from the Ontario Court of Appeal a few months later.
In 2014, the Supreme Court struck down a key section in the Abolition of Early Parole Act; a law the Conservatives passed in 2011 that retroactively took away accelerated parole review from existing prisoners. The court said that the provision violated a person’s charter right not be tried or punished twice for the same crime.
In 2013, the Supreme Court torpedoed the government’s cyber-bullying legislation (Bill C-13) and Digital Privacy Act, ruling that Internet service providers cannot routinely provide subscriber data to the police.
In 2013, an Ontario Court of Appeal judge struck down the Tories new three-year mandatory minimum for first-time firearm offences, calling it “cruel and unusual punishment”.
In 2013 the Mandatory Victims Surcharge that the Conservative enshrined in law was struck down in 2014 by an Ontario Court justice as being unconstitutional. It was in 2013, Justice Minister MacKay infamously said that homeless people should sell off “a bit of property” to come up with the cash to pay the surcharge if they’re convicted of an offence. Such a crass and insensitive statement, yet so Tory like.
I could go on listing other examples of Justice Minister Peter MacKay’s losing track record when it comes to tabling legislation that was later found to be illegal or unconstitutional by the courts, however, I think the ones I have listed are sufficient examples of Mr. MacKay’s ineptitude and incompetence.
by Brother Gecko: “What the hell is wrong with these Board members? I think THEY should be the ones who have to escort this useless sack of excrement.”
by Dumbfounded: “I don’t think the child killer should have escorted outings. I think he should get unescorted outings.”
You are both right, on that topic.
