Monday, June 8, 2015 @ 10:37 AM

Vanderhoof, B.C. – Another community meeting has been set for the residents of Vanderhoof, to bring everyone up to date on the latest information about the flood threat from the Nechako River.

According to the latest information from the River Forecast Centre, the Nechako was flowing at about 672 cubic metres per second through Vanderhoof this morning.   The flow is expected to fluctuate between that level and 670 cubic metres per second till at least mid week.

While there have been no reports to the District of Vanderhoof of any significant damage,   there have been reports of water in some basements. The community has worked long and hard to sandbag as many threatened properties as possible.

The District has now closed Riverside Park  until the  river levels recede.

“While the situation appears to be stabilizing somewhat, the District is committed to keeping the community informed” says District spokesperson Councillor Brian Frenkel.

The community meeting has been set for Wednesday evening at the Seniors Friendship Centre, and has been the case for the previous two sessions, is set to start at 7 p.m.
