Prince George, B.C.- A bird is being blamed for a power outage that cut power to most of Prince George north of the Nechako River this morning.“A bird got into a substation” says BC Hydro’s Bob Gammer. That bird made a fatal connection with some equipment which shorted out the substation. 6750 customers from the Nechako River, north to Salmon Valley and east to Shelley, lost power.
The repairs were made quickly, with the outage lasting about an hour and a half says Gammer, but customers could experience minor outages as Hydro crews make final repairs. “Some customers may experience a power outage of one to five minutes as workers do some switching”.
