Williams Lake Pool Upgrade Moves Another Step Forward
Williams Lake, B.C. – Upgrades to Sam Ketcham Pool in Williams Lake are one step closer to reality.
This as the Cariboo Regional District (CRD) and the City of Williams Lake have announced Victoria based Vic Davies Architecture as the design consultant team for the project.
There were six responses to the Design Consultant Request for Proposals and there were four short-listed candidates.
So why Vic Davies Architecture?
“Vic Davies Architecture was the most experienced firm and design team having completed forty 25-metre lap/competition pools, and 15 combined lap and leisure facilities for a total of 40 aquatic centres,” reads a joint CRD/City of Williams Lake news release. “The firm is considered an innovation leader in aquatic design; the first to design a leisure pool in Canada; first to incorporate a wave pool in BC and the first indoor accessible waterslide in North America.”
The public will get their chance to meet the full project team tonight at 5 pm in Williams Lake Council Chambers.
Renovations and upgrades to Sam Ketcham Pool will take place over the next two years while the next step in the project will focus on development of detailed design which is scheduled to be complete by late July.
