Ride for Dad Raises Eleven Grand for Prostate Cancer
Prince George, B.C. – The Northern B.C. Telus Ride for Dad has raised $11,000 for prostate cancer research and public awareness of the disease.
The organizer of the Prince George ride, Charles Brunette, says the rainy weather Saturday definitely had an effect on the turnout for the event. “We had one hundred people registered riding 83 bikes on the parade but yes, the weather definitely played against us. The rain kept a lot of the out-of-town riders from coming in. We received a lot of notification from riders as far as Fraser Lake and Dawson Creek and Quesnel that they had cancelled the trip (to Prince George) because of the weather.”
However Brunette says he’s happy with the $11,000 raised adding “the best thing about it is that all of the money stays local, going to prostate cancer research and awareness right here.”
