ALS Walk Aims to Raise 20K

Prince George, B.C. – Approximately 200 people are expected to take part in today’s ALS Walk at Lheidhli T’enneh Memorial Park.
Organizers are hoping to raise $20,000 to help find a cure for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, sometimes called Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Spokesperson Charlene Vohar says approximately 50-60 people suffer from the rapidly progressive, invariably fatal neurological disease in the Prince George region.
She’s also been touched by it pesonally.
“I’ve lost three family members to ALS. I lost my mom three years ago, prior to that on my dad’s side of the family his brother, and my mom’s aunt.”
Today’s walk kicks off at 11:30 am and will be followed by burgers, hot dogs and a silent auction.
