Tuesday, July 7, 2015 @ 7:56 AM

Terrace, B.C. – A 26 year old Prince George woman is in hospital with serious injuries after her vehicle left the road and went down a steep embankment over the weekend.

Her vehicle was discovered Sunday morning approximately 50 kms east of Terrace off Highway 16 by friends.

North District RCMP Corporal Dave Tyreman said the woman had left Prince George for Terrace to attend to an urgent family matter Saturday but was reported missing later that night.

Police don’t know what caused the woman’s vehicle to leave the road but say foul play is not suspected.

Her name has not been released.

BC’s ditches and embankments are just unreal. If you leave the highway here you may as well be driving off a cliff. Even the equipment hired to debrush the ditches have to be part mountain goat to get the job done, and even if it was flat they would make sure and dig a 40 foot ditch just for good measure. Not sure how you can change this mindset. But it has cost lots of lives over the years.
