Scratch Another Name from the ‘Wanted’ List
Prince George, B.C.- RCMP in Prince George have rounded up a man they have been looking for.
Yesterday morning, police spotted 73 year old Erwin Gerhard Engel driving on Minchin Road, off Blackwater Road southwest of Prince George.
Police had been looking for Engel who was wanted for breaching the conditions on his Conditional Sentence Order.
According to police, when they tried to pull over Engel’s vehicle, he sped up and took off. Police did not give chase, but a short time later, that same vehicle was spotted on a long driveway off Blackwater Road.
Police Service Dog ‘Baron’ was called upon to track Engel, and Baron led officers about 800 metres away from the vehicle to where Engel was hiding. Engel was arrested without incident.
In addition to the Arrest Warrant, Engel is now facing charges of :
- Fail to Stop for Police
- Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
Engel’s Conditional Sentence Order had been revoked in late June. He had been given a conditional sentence in February of this year after pleading guilty to a number of charges, including forcible confinement, uttering threats and careless use of a firearm.
