Site C Job Fairs Set
Prince George, B.C.- Dust off the resume, job fairs have been set for some aspects of the Site C dam project.
BC Hydro has announced there will be three job fairs at the end of the month, all three taking place in the Peace region.
Job seekers will have an opportunity to meet with the contractors for the project, find out what kind of jobs will be available, and are encouraged to bring along a resume they can leave with the contractors.
There is no need to register in advance.
All three job fairs are taking place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the first taking place in Tumbler Ridge at the Trend Mountain Conference Centre on July 28th.
The next day, the fair will be held in Fort St. John in the Grand Ballroom at the Quality Inn Northern Grand and the final one is set for the 30th in Chetwynd in the Cottonwood Hall of the Chetwynd and District Rec Centre.

How goofy, this project hasn’t even cleared the court cases that are underway to stop it from being built.
The BC Libs don’t let silly things like court cases and the laws get in their way, haven’t you figured that out by now Jim?
Quite correct Fate; Laws? This provincial and federal government do not need to follow laws, apparently they operate above it. Canada, and this province, has never been more fascist.
The job fairs, and the shovels in the ground attitude, along with the mantra **the time for talking is over** is all part of the Provincial Government and BC Hydro’s propaganda agenda to give the impression that Site C is a done deal, and its going forward.
Even if they lose the court cases, they will endeavor to find another way to get this project going. Its about getting elected, and cushy contracts, and cushy Hydro jobs, and has nothing to do with a need for more power.
By the time this project is complete British Columbia’s population could be pushing 6 million people. If BC Hydro and the government don’t do anything, will BC produce enough power to meet the demands of that many people ? Would hate to have to import power from coal fired plants in Alberta.
I would have to say the first four postings are very true.
Okay….., Prince George’s power needs might not change, but the rest of BC will definitely need more.
Well tell us about the fifth posting or is it worth talking about. Its probably Christy talk..
Cheers
Middle Finger. Alberta is moving from coal to gas fired electric generating plants,. The future is in gas. The USA, China, Russia, Korea, etc; etc; etc; are all going to natural gas generating plants.
BC with the most gas, is still going the way of the Dodo Bird, or the Dinosaurs and building dams, and flooding good agricultural land, even though this land will be needed in the future.
Hmmmmm.
Currently, Alberta’s largest natural gas electric generating plant looks to be in Fort McMurray generating 356 mega watts. So we would need a few of those. At the bottom of the list it shows 5 plants that have been decommissioned since 1998. Don’t these plants last very long ?
Curious why you would say; “The future is in gas.” Palopu? We know you are a huge fan, and loyal follower, of our dear leader… so why would you want to contradict him?
“But how’s this for something to snap the most jet-lagged cynic awake: Stephen Harper has agreed to a statement that oil and gas really have no long-term future because they threaten the health of the planet.”
If Harper agrees there is no long term future in oil and gas, why can’t you Palopu?

So who are these contractors, does anyone here know?
So, we don’t want the dam built because we don’t need the electricity? Either that, or we do need the electricity but we don’t want to flood the valley?
So, we should build natural gas fired electric generating stations? But, we don’t want to burn natural gas (or oil) because both contribute green house gases?
We will eventually run out of natural gas, and oil! That’s a given!
The dam will provide reliable electricity for the better part of a century! But the dam will result in the loss of some farmland! So, we should protest the dam because we don’t want to lose farmland, farmland that is frozen solid for the better part of half of the year?
We seem to have lost monumental amounts of good quality farmland in the lower mainland, the Fraser Valley, and in the Thompson and Okanagan valleys. Shouldn’t we have been protesting the loss of THAT farmland??
I wonder if any of you anti-dam people bothered to do so??
I saw this earlier this evening I copied it, corrected some spelling and grammar and have pasted it here so that I could share it with all of you!
LET’S ALL PROTEST!
Let’s protest Energy East pipeline, Site C, all the Pipelines headed south! Let’s protest Fracking and the Oil Sands! Let’s protest Wind Turbines in our backyards, wind turbines off the coast of B.C.!
We can protest turning corn into Ethanol and anything else that someone somewhere thinks is not environmentally friendly. Inhumane treatment of livestock at the big feedlots, chickens, beef, pigs, all of it!
And then when the cost of energy is so high that everything costs a small fortune and we can’t heat our homes or drive our cars and we can’t afford to buy food because it’s cost is out of reach again because of energy costs, then we can fight each other in the dark street for a crumb of bread that was baked in a solar oven somewhere and feel good about how well all our protesting went!
So let’s get out there and sign every petition we can get our names on. Let’s wave our banners, bang our gongs and scream our discontent at the top of our lungs! Then we can start building coffins as we have already dug our own graves.
Or let’s not, because unless you are a vegan that rides a bike that you created from rocks and twigs and who lives in a cabin with no electricity, only eats what they grow and never purchase products from any stores, you then my friend would be a hypocrite!
Share this if you like! Don’t share it! Like it or don’t like it! Never the less, I’m sure that most of you that actually read this will agree “it’s really getting pretty stupid out there”!
Not my words, but I thought it was worth sharing!
