Summerfest in Full Swing
Prince George, B.C. – Thousands flocked to downtown Prince George today to enjoy Summerfest.
The day long event features live entertainment , vendors, and the Taste Pavilion which features 19 different Prince George Restaurants offering ( for a small fee) a sampling from of their menu.

The event this year was held early to coincide with Prince George’s Centennial celebrations and Mayor Lyn Hall couldn’t be happier with the turnout. “This is the best front yard in Prince George” says Mayor Hall as he surveyed the activity happening on the grounds of City Hall, Veterans Plaza and spilling out on to George Street.
The weather is cooperating big time, with barely a cloud in the sky. Making the “misting station” set up on 6th at George street a real plus.
(At right young and old pass through the cooling misting station) “God bless whoever thought of that idea” said one Summerfest attendee, “Just enough cool water to cool you down, but not get you totally wet.”
The Railway and Forestry Museum is on site to offer a mini train ride, and for the kids, kids, and bunnies, a pig, and a little donkey as the folks from Black Spruce Farms offered up a mini farm animal petting station.
Then there’s the memory tree, where visitors are invited to write down their favourite memory of Prince George and have it added to the tree as another ‘leaf’ in the history of the community, ( Below, right , Lauren Brotman adds a “memory” to the memory tree )
Summerfest continues to 5, then resumes this evening at 8 with concerts and the centennial celebrations wrap up with a fireworks display at 10:30 tonight.

Was a great time, kids loved the fire truck and the army jeep with the opening roof and machine gun. The train and the fishing was also fun, didn’t get one but got a few nibbles… why do fish always swim clockwise? Riddle for another day, maybe the ten foot guy will be there to answer it this evening. Buttered chicken and ribs are always a hit along with the cupcakes and mini donuts, time to run a few blocks in the heat to sweat it all out…
