Prince George, B.C.- Mayor Lyn Hall sums up the City’s Centennial celebrations in one word “Fantastic”.
Over the past ten days, the City has been alive with activity to mark its 100th birthday. From the opening of the 75th anniversary time capsule through to the fireworks last night, there has been no shortage of things for the whole family to do to be part of the party. “It’s an extension of what we did during the Games (2015 Canada Winter Games) ” says Mayor Hall.
It is clear to him and to Council, that people want to have reasons to gather “We got the message during the Games when the Plaza was absolutely packed every night of the week with entertainment .” He says the Canada Games Plaza has been going non-stop at lunch hours, “There’s been kids programs, things for adults to do entertainment and we just want to continue doing this.”
Mayor Hall says there is a role for the City to play in helping make events happen, “Every organization that’s considering having something in our community, looking for a location, don’t forget about City Hall. We have the opportunity to close down portions of George Street and portions of 6th Avenue, 7th Avenue and I’m ecstatic about this.”
