Construction of  new  facility  in full swing on Quebec Street – photo 250News

Prince George, B.C.- It’s a $3.6 million dollar project and  will serve  service more than 60 men in the community.

The  new Ketso Yoh Men’s Housing facility  on Quebec will offer housing, food security, case management, outreach, drop-in services, lifeskills and cultural supports.

The facility will  replace the  old one  located next door.  That  building was erected in the 1940’s and  has operated  for about 30 years as an Emergency Shelter program.  While it  continues to operate  as a shelter,  it also offers supportive recovery and transitional housing programming for men experiencing homelessness.   But it is no longer  the right ‘fit’ for  the more than 60 men  who  access the housing and  programs that are offered on site.

The new building  is expected to be complete by the end of this year.

Excuse my ignorance..didnt even know we had a place like this in PG.. All you ever hear about is all the different support groups and councelling and classes for females.. Nice to know we have something like this for men. Just hope I never have to use their services.

Good services. Wonder if the building will be more then one story high (to make it look nicer for downtown)

P Val, it’s good to see that Ketso Yoh is finally getting a new facility as the existing one is in pretty rough shape! The building is 70 odd years old with poor heating and virtually no air conditioning. It was long overdue for a replacement. It is good to see that some money is being directed to men’s services as there is a definite need for them!

I have in the past dropped off good used clothing items to this men’s facility and am currently gathering more items to donate. In the fall, they can always use good warm boots and clothes for the coming winter, just in case you feel the need to give! ;-)

Hart Guy, thanks for the info… I will definitly drop clothing off there now as well as the Salvation army where it all goes now.
