Evacuation Alert Lifted for Puntzi Lake
Williams Lake, B.C. – It’s over. The Cariboo Regional District has announced the Evacuation Alert for the Puntzi Lake area has been rescinded.
The Puntzi Lake fire, which has burned nearly 8100 hectares since July 8th, is now 85% contained. The emergency situation complete, the Cariboo Regional District’s Local State of Emergency is also expiring today.
Residents and visitors to the area are reminded that the fire suppression efforts will be ongoing. People living in or travelling through the areas that have been affected by the Puntzi Lake wildfire should use caution as some hazards, such as dangerous trees or hot spots, may still exist.
The Puntzi Lake fire is currently estimated at 8,078 hectares and is 85 per cent contained.
