Reminder, Tyner Closed for Road Rehab
Prince George, B.C. – A reminder that Tyner Boulevard is scheduled to be closed to vehicle traffic between University Heights and UNBC starting today, and through to the 14th.The $600 thousand dollar road rehab project will move forward weather permitting. As 250 News reported Monday, ( see previous story) the closure of Tyner will also mean a change in transit.
The transit changes mean Route 16 will not be running between UNBC and College Heights for the duration of the paving project. To get to UNBC on transit from College Heights, riders will have to take Route 89 to the Nicholson Exchange and transfer to a Route 15. That will add about a half hour to the trip on weekdays, and a full hour and a half on the weekend.
To go from UNBC to College Heights during the road rehab work, riders will have to take Route 15 to the Nicholson Exchange and transfer to Route 88.
The Route 16 bus will continue to service Lower College Heights, but will stop near the intersection of McGill Crescent and Domano Boulevard (in front of the McDonald’s) and turn around. It will pick up passengers headed into College Heights near the same intersection on the other side of Domano Boulevard in front of the Starbucks.
There are two other road rehab projects slated to start this week:
- Boeing Road between the Old Cariboo Highway and 640m West from August 5 to 14, Estimated Cost $175 thousand.
- Cantle Road between Highway 16 Frontage Road and Hartman Road from August 6 to 14 Estimated Cost $145 thousand.
All work is subject to weather conditions. If possible, plan an alternate route, and drive with caution around road crews.
