Friday, July 31, 2015 @ 11:56 AM

Quesnel, B.C. – Good news for Quesnel residents.

The governments of Canada and BC have announced close to $5 million in funding for Phase 2 of the West Quesnel Land Stability project through the Small Communities Fund.

Mayor Bob Simpson welcomes the announcement noting the money will help “enable us to continue our work on stabilizing the slide area that impacts 750 homes by capturing and redirecting both the surface and sub-surface water which create the slide conditions.”

The federal and provincial governments will both kick in up to $2,425,051 each for the project, while the City of Quesnel will responsible for the project’s remaining costs.

The final price tag is expected to hit $7.2 million. Construction is projected to start next spring.
