Friday Free for All – August 7th
Thursday, August 6, 2015 @ 11:59 PM
First week of August has come to a close with the promise of warmer weather on the way for the northern area of B.C.
The end of the week also means it’s time for the FRIDAY FREE FOR ALL.
You pick the topic, but pace yourself, there are many many weeks ahead to talk about the federal election.
As always , obey the three simple rules:
Keep it clean
Keep it legal
No bullying, which means no matter how much you disagree with another’s opinion, name calling won’t be tolerated.
L E T ‘E R R I P !!!!

We are not even a full week into the election and already one poster has lowered the level of the conversation to potty insults one would expect from a three year old. Here are a couple of examples that she used to describe the sitting Prime Minister of Canada…”This lying piece of chite” and “useless steaming pile of excrement this man truly is” I suppose that the coup de gras that we can expect on a election eve post is “Don’t vote for Steven, he’s a big poo-poo head”
A word of advice for future reference, if it is a short easy to pronounce word said twice back to back it would be better to leave those for recess or playtime. Some examples of words to avoid are poo, pee, ka, wee, fo, etc.
This poster goes even further into this scatigory by telling other people “feces that he calls pudding for all you righties to gobble down on. Feast away slinky, Palopu, Hart Guy”
Beginning to see a trend here.
I once heard that a politician is someone who says one thing then turns around and does the complete opposite.
Not even a week before the campaign started the same person posted the following
“From now on, I will not be engaging anyone in a back and forth debate, nor will I be responding to multiple questions from multiple posters, it increases my comment numbers and makes it look like I am hijacking a discussion thread.”
…and within a week is posting nearly 50% of the comments on some threads. Therefore must mean that she is a politician so feel free to use the same scatjectives in reference to her that she uses for the PM. She could even be a harpercrite.
Gee sparrow, today I was going to endeavor to be kinder and more gentle to a certain person who’s sensitivities I have sometimes trodden upon, but after reading your post, I’m not so sure that I want to do that!
What to do? What to do?? Oh, what a dilemma!
On our favourite topic of the roads, it seems to me that there are a number of intersections that make turns hazardous because you can’t see whether traffic is coming, either because parking is allowed right up to the intersection or because vegetation needs to be cut back. One example is the intersection of Alward and 10th. If you’re coming from any of the medical facilities on Alward and want to turn left onto 10th, toward Central, you generally can’t see whether traffic is coming from the left because of the parked cars. My impression is that there are a lot of corners like this.
Thanks for your comment billposer, I was beginning to think I would be the sole honoured subject of this Friday Free For All. Obviously my comments are getting under some Conservative skin… I haven’t used “bio-mass” or the french version of “merde” yet, look for it in my future comments.
At any rate, AGAIN this comment thread is NOT about me, so on to other subjects:
“Conservative Candidate Todd Doherty breaks city sign rules” was a story that ran in the Prince George Citizen a couple of days back. I particularly like one person’s comment on that story, it went something like this: “Oblivious to rules and regulations; he’ll make a fine conservative then.”
I appreciate others who are of similar thought and mind on this, so UmbertoMalevich kudos to you for your brief, but oh so amusing, comment.
I think this election will be one that is a turning point for Canada. Will our kids live in a country that is sovereign and free from the hidden hand of fascism?
I think it is fair to say if Harper wins this election then fascism will be firmly rooted in our economy and political sphere to a point that it would be very difficult to remove as a controlling force that limits our ability to govern our democracy. With the advances to technology, and the changes to our security establishment, and now the influence over our democracy itself, it then becomes hard to see how future generations will be able to get out from under the fascist blanket.
I was reading the other day that in the 1950’s to 1970’s we had an inherited income as a percentage of total income in Canada that was under 50%, with it now over 70% and projected to be 90% of the total income in Canada being inherited financial income by 2030. So much for the free enterprise values of equality to opportunity when 90% of the nations income is decided by birth and not merit.
I think Harper will do and say anything to gain influence and power, but has a track record for out flanking the ‘conservative’ movement on many issues so as to take up the flag on the issue, and then turn around and champion the fifth column cause. Harper strives on taking an extreme position and then owning it as the only answer for new policy.
Cicero’s words 2000 years ago for the treasonous Catiline are as apt today for Harper as they were for the Catlinian conspirators back then.
“How long, O Catiline, will you abuse our patience? And for how long will that madness of yours mock us? To what end will your unbridled audacity hurl itself?”
I too once drank Harper’s cool-aid. When he was first elected to lead the Canadian alliance party I was one of his biggest supporters. Back then I thought he represented a balanced common sense approach that above all protected our sovereignty and promoted strengthening our democratic institutions. I couldn’t have been more wrong in thinking he was a man of his word.
I first realized that Harper was a fraud for sure and a very dangerous politician when he started talking about the need for Canadians to realize we will have to accept ‘enlightened sovereignty’ as the hallmark of his G8 hosted event. Harper’s ‘enlightened sovereignty’ essentially is a nice way of saying our democracy will have restrictions placed on it by globalist institutions via ‘free-trade’ treaties that have ‘investor state dispute resolution’ clauses that will hand over judicial rights that will be enforceable over our governments and judiciary and that are adjudicated in secret by unaccountable members of the globalist elite.
The use of these third party adjudicators will be the fascist tool that will neuter our democracy. The public will be unaware of the terms that are agreed upon in treaties like TPP… terms that were written by the global elites… and terms that will be enforced on behalf of the global elite by their own dispute resolution offices acting in imperial fashion blocking domestic regulations with threat of financial penalty.
Harper is more akin to the Vichy French government of WW2, than any other in modern times. One just has to look at who his allies are. Its one thing to be the apologist for Netanyahu’s war crimes in Gaza, but Harper goes even further with his support for the Euromadain coup in Ukraine that installed a fascist government backed by right wing militias in the streets.
Harper has done everything in his power to prop up this new fascist government in the Ukraine… he has traveled there for all the key moments, and was the first to sign Ukraine up to a ‘free-trade agreement that fulfills Harpers agenda of ‘enlightened sovereignty’ through binding investor state dispute resolution process controls. As if to highlight the ominous developments the neo nazi group right sector had thousands of their fighters marching through the streets of Kiev wearing army fatigues and carrying their weapons… on the same day Harper was signing a ‘free trade’ agreement with them. With Canadian troops on the way by months end to train Ukraine’s ‘none-state’ security forces (read right sector neo nazi’s)… we can be sure Canadian involvement with these fascists will only deepen.
Harpers other foreign fascist friend Mikheil Saakashvili should give us all pause as to the kind of characters Harper associates himself with. This is the ex-president of Georgia that people will remember for trying to eat his tie when his plans to draw NATO into a war with Russia backfired. Harper was all in of course, just as he was with the Ukraine attempts to ethnically cleanse the Dunbas of Russians using their modern day brown shirt neo-nazi groups. Saakashvili of course is on the run now from Georgia where he is wanted for war crimes (a common trait in Harpers overseas allies), but being an ally of Harpers trumps being wanted for war crimes, so Saakashvili was appointed to be the governor of the Odessa region of Ukraine… I know I know, the Euromadain coup government of Ukraine is appointing foreign fascists wanted for war crimes to fill its ranks of loyal regional governors. Some will remember the horrid scenes from Odessa early on in the conflict when peaceful Russian protestors were chased and rounded up into the union trades building that was set ablaze igniting the Russian revolt to the Saakashvili lead Odessa government.
Has Harper ever once came out with a measured approach to condemn excess abuses on civilians in either Odessa, or when the Israeli slaughter of Gaza was taking place? Not once. Harper is an all or nothing ideolog. When it comes to war and peace, Harper is on the side of war and atrocities shouldn’t be spoken of.
Even when Turkey enters the fight against isis, but instead of bombing isis, the Turks use the opportunity to bomb the Kurds who were our ally against isis… Harper says nothing, because being allied with Turkey once again trumps any loyalty to a smaller ally much less the idea of chivalry in addressing our concerns. Strong evidence indicates the Saudi’s, Israel, and Turkey are the powers behind isis… so what are Canadians doing over there if we are turning a blind eye in a faux war?
Meanwhile Harper missed the ten year deadline for Canada’s submission to the UN over our claims to Arctic waters, and Russia submits their own claim that includes the North pole… but Harper has burned all his bridges in negotiating with the Russians, so now it comes down to who’s F-18 is bigger? Or does Harper even have a plan when a central part of his campaigns past was that he was the protector of Canada’s Arctic… yet in 10 years of government he hasn’t secured one new boat for the Arctic and lost the North pole.
So when one looks at Harpers record one can only conclude he is a closet fascist:
Foreign affairs policy: Ukraine, Israel, isis, Libya policy = fascist
Foreign friends of Harpers: Poroshenko, Saakasvili, Netanyahu, Erdogon = fascist
International free trade deals: Actually they are legal documents to transfer sovereign powers from parliament to fascist tribunals set up by a corpocracy of globalist fascists.
State Security: Using CSIS to spy on foreign governments on behalf of corporate sponsors = fascist.
Will our children live in a country that is sovereign and free? Unless Harper is removed and replaced by anyone else, then I believe Canada is on the road to total control by fascist forces on a global scale; and this election may be the last chance to stop it.

How about those Blue Jays.
Perhaps it’s been there for a long time and i just missed it, but there’s a huge golf course-style net strung between the east and west building wings at the Prison on Hwy16. Do they have a driving range in there now?
Texting and driving is getting to be a more sereous risk than drinking and driving. All these smart phone are equipped with GPS. There has got to be a way for them to shut down if they detect motion? I would not be surprised if a wrongful death law suit is launched against a smart phone maker pretty soon.
Come on eye spy…really?!?!
So passengers can’t use cell phones in cars now because they will shut down…lol…use your head!!!
Boulevards in PG should have a right hand lane rule for slower moving traffic (eg: semi’s moving from light to light. To often you see semi’s drag racing (even though its in slo-mo, racing none the less is what is) either way on Central St., thus screwing with the normal flow of traffic.
There are good highly professional drivers out there but as always the few hold the broadest brush. Perhaps the owners of the tan, yellow and blue trucks would do some quality control work in this area as well as the PG to V-hoof run.
Eagleone:- “I was reading the other day that in the 1950’s to 1970’s we had an inherited income as a percentage of total income in Canada that was under 50%, with it now over 70% and projected to be 90% of the total income in Canada being inherited financial income by 2030. And just where do you think Justin Trudeau’s income came from, Eagle? Was he dependent totally on the ‘sweat of his brow’ to make ends meet and advanced to where he is today solely on the basis of ‘merit’? It was said once’ long ago, by an individual who’d studied such things, that it wasn’t the “idle rich” from whom we had anything to fear, but rather the “hard working rich”. That’s the real danger to the free-enterprise system from anyone having an inherited income that can then be mis-used to prevent anyone else from advancing to that same beneficial position. The solution to that problem isn’t to take away inheritance, because that would only ensconse those who’ve already inherited in their preferred position of power over others. It’s rather to broaden it, so inheritance, our cultural heritage, really, is of maximum benefit to all.
I watched the Leaders’ debate on Youtube last evening, except for a few minutes at the end. The thing I most dislike about these debates is that the pundits then repeat and interpret what the politicians said, often changing the emphasis when they do so. I am not going to comment on the content but on their demeanor, since debates are as much about perception as content.
I thought both Harper and Mulcair looked relaxed and both were obviously presenting themselves as reasonable, experienced rivals for the Prime Ministership. I didn’t really see that one was more effective in this than the other. I did observe that Harper had his grin on all the time. He should learn to uncompress his lips more often and openly smile. Mulcair doesn’t appear to smile enough and comes across as overly serious. Perhaps he needs to crack a joke now and again. On the other hand, running as a serious contender for Prime Minister is actually serious stuff.
Trudeau appeared to me to be a bit uptight. He gave me the impression that he was on edge because he was playing with the big boys, and faltered a few times. He gets his point across, but needs to be more direct about it. He also allowed himself to be shut up on one or two occasions, and that is not confidence building.
May did her usual reasonably competent job and got in a few good jabs. However, it is clear that she does not expect to become Prime Minister, so she tended to be sidelined on occasion.
I think they all did quite well in the debate. Hopefully there will be more debates. Harper revealed that he instructed his appointed (!)senators to consider toeing the party line and shooingt down a bill that had already been passed by an elected parliament (hear, hear) and that (inspite of constant denials) he does now under pressure agree that Canada is indeed in a technical recession!
Mulcair had no answer when Trudeau accused him of saying one thing about an issue in French and the exact opposite in English. Amazing! Mulcair insists that he will abolish the Senate if elected, admitting at the same time that some provinces have already indicated that they strongly oppose his idea! So, the whole abolishing promise is more like wishful thinking or plain electioneering.
May was feisty and well informed, had facts and figures about the environment and Harper’s complete failure to keep any previously made committments in respect to meeting GG emissions. Unfortunately she did not get the opportunity to drill Harper some more about his non-performance.
Trudeau did raise many valid points and debated with arguments that his opponents were unable to refute. He certainly knew his stuff and made no mistakes in presenting it!
All in all it was entertaining!
Come on Eagleone. The length of your post is too long. Please be more concise when writing here. You’ll probably get more people reading your posts if they are shorter. Most of us don’t come on here to read a book or even a chapter.
I agree billposer that there are too many intersections in PG where one cannot see what they are pulling out into. I always hope that whoever has the right away is thinking about who could potentially pull out in front of them, as we all should. It would be nice to see City workers, on their travels around town, make note of some of these intersections and try to improve them. I find a lot of left-turn lanes at intersections with lights are hard to see around if there is a large vehicle in the opposing left-hand lane, thereby making pulling out dangerous. I would also like to see more left-hand turn lights.
Had a conservative representative phone the other evening looking for a donation. When questioned about Duffy the come back from the conservative representative was “that is the nature of the beast”. I guess that leads one to believe it is okay for conservative politicians to fleece the public of tax dollars. Seems the conservatives are okay with the actions of Duffy, Wright, Pallin, and a few others one of which was sentenced to a month in jail.
Well put resident . Lying , cheating and corrupting our last election only got Dean Del Mastro one month in jail . We have a two tiered justice system . One for corrupt politicians and one for the public . Disgusting . The results of the last election should have been thrown out .
Resident. I thing you are confused between Pamela Wallin, and Sara Palin. In any event, I doubt that anyone in Canada is ok with those Senators who p….d in the pickles.
As Harper stated, he is not about to apologize for those Senators who made serious personal decisions.
This is where some of us get confused. It was these Senators that made these serious mistakes. Not the Conservative, or Liberal parties, or the people who voted for them.
I am ashamed that Duffy, Wallin, and others would do this after being appointed as Senators. This is a reflection of their character, not the character of the Government or Canadian as a whole.
Lets keep things in perspective.
Texting and driving is getting to be a more sereous risk than drinking and driving. All these smart phone are equipped with GPS. There has got to be a way for them to shut down if they detect motion? I would not be surprised if a wrongful death law suit is launched against a smart phone maker pretty soon.
===========================================
I agree with this and it’s a virtual daily occurrence when I see someone texting on their phone, completely oblivious to what is going on around them while they drive their vehicle.
I think that it’s becoming increasingly clear that we can’t rely on people’s judgement to not text and drive, so I’d definitely consider supporting a law that eliminates the ability of smart phones to text while the phone is in motion over a certain speed (thus indicating that the operator is also in motion). I’d also support something whereby if the phone is traveling at a certain speed, only the hands free mode would be activated on the phone.
I’m sure that it’s technically possible to accomplish such feats, so I don’t see any downside other than inconveniencing those who may be texting while sitting in a passenger seat or something like that. I guess the question is whether the safety aspect of cutting down on texting and driving is more important than limiting one’s freedom to text. After some of the boneheaded stuff I’ve seen on the roads, I know which way I’d lean.
As an aside, one thing I noticed on a trip down in New York state a while back, was that they has fairly regular spots on the highway where people could pull over to use their phone, check texts, etc. They seemed to be fairly well used and I wonder if that’s something we should also consider doing as a way to help manage the issue.
Let’s be clear said over and over . harper the parrot . What a goof . #cdnpoli he actually believes his own baloney . It’s about the economy stupid . That’s being said across the country . Twitter is really coming alive . This site is really sedate in comparison .
I see the researchers up at the uni studying the Mt. Polly spill despite a year researching haven’t come up with any real issues from the spill but are sure there are issues so they will continue researching until they find a real problem that must be there. May take a couple more years and more money. Oh wait its about the money, they sound just like climate researchers always digging for money trying to find a problem.
Prince George why are you concerned about GG, has there been some related event to cause that concern?
Watched the debates, while no real “winner”, I was impressed with Elizabeth May. She spoke well & got her points across clearly, not that she has a snowballs chance in hell of becoming PM, but if she were in a different party she would be extremely formidable. Mulcair…looks better in Question Period than in debate, I was quite disappointed as I thought he would do better. Trudeau? Get some elocution lessons & enough with the whining. Harper needs to work on his smile & get his facts straight, he did look sort of relaxed & overall handled most of the debate well. It’s only one debate & too early to call it but if I were Mulcair I would be looking at BC & what lessons could be learned from blowing an ” insurmountable” lead.
I am not taking your bait, sorry!
Detoe, I couldn’t agree more. Unfortunately I think Harper came across too well. I’m looking for another shining star, don’t see one yet.
Have a great and safe weekend everyone :)
All the talk about a balanced budget from Harper, just how can you say you balanced your finances but increased the over all debt by $150 billion ? How many house holds would like to have that luxury.
I tried to watch the debate last night but gave up about 20 min in. No one really answering any questions, acting like a bunch of grade schoolers. If my boy acted like that he would be talked to about acting his age and he is 6 and acts better than they did last night.
Steph100 I would but the fly in the ointment is that unlike harper , I live in the real world . A place that harper has not even visited never mind lived in .
PVal, “acting like a bunch of grade schoolers. If my boy acted like that he would be talked to about acting his age and he is 6 and acts better than they did last night.”. Hahahaha, too true. Watch Question Period, sometimes I think the only thing missing is them throwing paper airplanes at each other or spitballs.
“Watch Question Period”
Why? They don’t answer any specific question !
“To the Minister Mr. XYZ, I am asking you to explain why
the projected surplus has now turned into a huge
deficit.”
Answer: “When I took my family on a vacation to the
Bahamas in December we really enjoyed the sailing
and the excellent hotel accomodation.”
“Mr. Speaker, I have a supplementary question to the
Minister. Isn’t it a fact that this is amounting to the
largest deficit in Canadian history?”
Answer: “I have to admit that the sailing trip wasn’t all
that great as we ran into a large storm.”
“how can you say you balanced your finances but increased the over all debt by $150 billion”
Easy. Borrow to fund programs. Show the resulting principal and interest payments in you liabilities, and away you go.
Debates are not set up for detailed responses. What one person thinks is a lie and another thinks is the truth is generally caused by lack of full information.
One has to dig deeper than the cursory questions as well as responses. Some of the “debates” shown in the USA that have a similar format are much better because the host is better informed and will dig deeper. It could very well be that was not allowed with the terms agreed to by the parties.
It was a relatively lame “debate”.
Detoe44. I know what you mean about question period, my cousin to her grade 10 class to question period a few years ago.. She was embarrassed and her students where disgusted. A room full of arrogant morons is how one student put it.
gopg2015, “It was a relatively lame “debate”. Yep, but the American version on last night…now that’s entertainment. Maybe we could coax Don Cherry to be our faux Donald Trump. ;)
now there is an idea, throw an independent into the group. Cherry is an excellent choice, LOL
Lol, little humor on a Friday, all good
Why is it a good election strategy for TODD DOHERTY to thoroughly litter the town with signs, so far ahead of the vote at a time when the city and countryside are at their most beautiful?
I realize that the environment is not a top priority for your party but all that blue garbage is enough to turn a long-time Conservative into an NDP supporter. Then there’s your leader who really needs to go away.
There are two approaches to lawn sugns during elections.
The first is to swamp the constituency on the first day of the campaign. This is supposed to let everyone know that the candidate has overwhelming support and attempts to demoralize the opposition.
The other is to have a sign or two at first, then slowly increase the numbers until they are seen everywhere in the final week. This is supposed to show a steady, incremental growth in support up to polling day.
Make your choice of strategy. I think one is as effective as theother. In other words, not much.
I noticed today that in several places around town, that the blue sign pollution is beginning to show some wear. There were some fallen down, some twisted, some pulled up. It will be work to keep those looking nice and shiny until October 19 or those sites are going to look like mini garbage dumps.
Hey Fortwood Homes…..we have a no use of engine brakes bylaw in PG. Are you so special that you aren’t required to follow our bylaws while your gravel truck is flying up and down Malaspina Ave using his engine brake during the day? You have been previously contacted about this. Are you to stupid to realize there are shift workers that live in residential areas of this city that are trying to sleep while your drivers are jaking their way through our neighbourhoods? Why is your truck driving so fast through a residential neighbourhood that he must use an engine brake? There are many other trucks travelling Malaspina that don’t use their engine brakes, whats with you people? Have some respect for others.
Muclair looked demonic at times.
Ataloss does your real world include a solar powered house.
Wowwww According to Google News, Harper stayed at same hotel as Hells Angels after the debate..
Coincident???? Harper doesn’t kiss and tell :)
Furbink, are you special because you drive a 4 wheeler? Loaded tan, yellow and blue trucks use the rh lane on the bypass from what I have observed. Empties can and do accelerate as fast as most 4 wheelers do these days. Are you just another one of those drivers that just gotta be in front of that truck?
bornandbred……..is someone holding a gun to your head forcing you to read comments here?
One thing that stood out in the Canadian debate last night was how many times Justin Trudeau said “uh”. When I went to school we were discouraged to avoid its used when speaking. I find this this unprofessional for someone wanting to lead this country. Furthermore, I don’t think there is a suitable candidate or political party worthy of governing Canada. Let’s look overseas and import someone?
“how can you say you balanced your finances but increased the over all debt by $150 billion”
Balancing a budget while owing money is easy, people and families do it all the time. Does it mean if you buy a truck or a house and all of the sudden are in debt to the tune of 50 to 300g’s that you no longer can balance your budget?
My free for all thought for the day:
When the economists criticize you because they think you will surely run a deficit while you are trying to run a surplus in one breath and then tell you that to be prudent you should run a deficit to stimulate the economy in another breath, who needs economists?
It means you can pay off your debt.. Harper hasn’t paid off penny of our debt..only driven us way deeper..
If you owed 2 million to a bank and could only make the interest payments the bank would not give you another cent, but Harper keeps borrowing more and calls it balanced. He is lying.. Not that hard to grasp for anyone who can do math.
slinky states; “When the economists criticize you because they think you will surely run a deficit while you are trying to run a surplus in one breath and then tell you that to be prudent you should run a deficit to stimulate the economy in another breath, who needs economists?”
Exactly, Harper is an economist and we don’t need him… a rare moment where we both agree on something!
I see this government is up to their old tricks again. Bc appeals child abuse decision.
Anybody know who won the truck and camper on BC Day?
No PVal, that is the best part of credit. If you reach your max but can still make the interest payments they will increase the limit. Default and things turn different.
Vocer, never got a call so I am hoping I wrote it down wrong…

Yes! when does this become littering? At a minimum it’s insulting to the intelligence of the voters in the region. Todd Doherty, or any other candidate, now has the option to communicate their political platform – if they have one- without littering and without massive spending. Ever heard of social media? Seeing 25 T Doherty signs on Foothills will not even sway my little brain. or maybe it will – GO NDP
tarnfeather My guess is the nets are there to keep contraband from being tossed into the courtyard from the parking lot.
Good comment Grover, and I completely agree. Hartly 2 your guess is probably right, however those nets would not be able to keep a high flying drone from dropping drugs on to the yard.

The signs are as bad as spam or pop ups . But don’t tell the guys with all the money for signs . I wonder if the same folks that are trying to make a buck sell print media ( newspapers ) are same folks getting donation money to print the signs . Follow the yellow brick road . Did you know that in the book , the wizard of OZ the magic slippers were silver . That was just to obvious .
Ah just wait until the nominations are over and there will be sign, sign, everywhere a sign not to mention wooden billboards at every intersection. Then you can be happy as you stare at your NDP, Liberal and Green logos
Does anyone know what happened to the community garden on the corner of Victoria and 7th? It used to be a colourful place but is now just a vacant lot.

This is especially true where governments are concerned. One, (of many), reason being that a National Debt is substantially different from privately incurred debts. Under the current financial set-up, governments increase National Debts to introduce ‘new money’ into the economy, particularly when there is a recession which negatively effects export markets. If governments did not do this, then, under the current set-up as it is, a great many of the existing debts of the private sector and consumers could not be paid as they come due. Such rise in defaults would cause the banks to further contract the flow of credit, and this would make even more existing debts unrepayable. The recession would quickly become a full scale depression. Something no government, left, right, or centre, would want to have to deal with. There is a much better way to make the current financial system more fully self-liquidating, (as it’s supposed to be, but increasingly is not), but so far none of the existing Parties are willing to examine it. My guess is that it will be the Conservatives who eventually will.
One of the biggest dangers in BC towards children is The ministry of children and family development. The Prince George office alone, there are many complaints against this outfit. The way they treat foster families and the children is outages and criminal. Where is the media on this, oh wait doing their makeup.
Ataloss this is for you. hows your solar coming along.
In sum, using coal is a stepping stone to prosperity. So much for it being a satanic energy source.
Hardly a day passes without evidence that coal is making a major comeback:
• Some 1,200 coal plants are planned across 59 countries, with about three-quarters in China and India, according to the World Resources Institute.
• Coal use around the world has grown about four times faster than renewables, according to the global energy monitoring publication BP Review of World Energy 2015.
• German coal “will remain a major, and probably the largest, fuel source for power generation for another decade and perhaps longer,” the Financial Times concludes.
• “The U.S. is dropping coal plants at an unprecedented rate, but still nowhere near as quickly as India is adding them,” Bloomberg Business reckons.
“By the end of this year, some 7.5% of the U.S. coal fleet will have disappeared … . But by 2020 India may have built about 2.5 times as much capacity as the U.S. is about to lose.”
Then, of course, there’s the world’s biggest coal addict by far — the People’s Republic of China. According to a 2014 report from Eric Lawson of Princeton University, a leading climate change apocalyptic on the left:
“The reality is that fossil fuels dominate China’s energy landscape, as they do in virtually every other country. And the focus on renewables also hides the fact that China’s reliance upon coal is predicted to keep growing.”
Lawson’s calculations of how coal use is growing in China are jaw-dropping. “From 2010 through 2013, (China) added half the coal generation of the entire U.S. At the peak, from 2005 through 2011, China added roughly two 600-megawatt coal plants a week for seven straight years.
“And according to U.S. government projections, China will add yet another U.S. worth of coal plants over the next 10 years, or the equivalent of a new 600-megawatt plant every 10 days for 10 years.”
ataloss:-“The signs are as bad as spam or pop ups . That was just to obvious .”

So far, the only business we’ve got relative to signs was from the NDP. Came and bought a bunch of lumber for stakes. Took all the weathered stuff, said they didn’t care, was just going to get cut up anyways. Don’t care much for their politics, but their money is as welcome as anyone else’s. Stimulates the economy, so to speak. I guess you know that the author of the Wizard of Oz books was trying to convey a monetary reform message with his “yellow brick road” analogy and the “silver slippers”? That was back in the days of the ‘gold standard’, where even old Karl Marx thought there was a pile of gold backing paper currency. Never did figure out that the economy was ‘creditary’ ~ and had been for as long as we’ve had ‘money’.

Im not sure of the process of approval for signage, however, i would hope that (with respect to traffic safety) the signage could be kept a minimum distance from intersections. Not only are these a distraction, but can actualy block a driver’s view (much like parked vehicles and vegetation). Example; turning right onto Ospika from Ferry. This is a somewhat “blind” corner to start, compound this with speeding traffic coming down the hill in the “slow” lane, as well as signage…and things get sketchy. The large wooden signs are not out yet (i think) but mark my words that frickin corner will have one soon. Like, think to yourself “this is a great spot, there are so many drivers to see my super awsome sign. Wait, maybe that makes it a TERRIBLE place to put a sign”…have some common sense please, and think about where these signs are placed. Rant over.
The political scene in the states has lost a needed set of eyes.. With Jon Stewart’s departing of the daily show let’s hope the new guy can keep it going. He will be missed.
