Trudeau Won Debate, but Mulcair Will Win Election – survey
Prince George, B.C.- The Macleans televised leaders debate Thursday night was the subject of a survey of British Columbians shortly after the debate ended, and the results are mixed.
Mainstreet/Postmedia contacted 1,719 BC residents when the debate wrapped up, and those polled think Liberal leader Justin Trudeau won the night, with 26% saying he did the best job of the First Federal Election debate.
“Mr. Trudeau had a solid debate performance after going into the night with low expectations”, said Quito Maggi, president of Mainstreet. “It is a much needed debate win for the Liberal Leader though Mr. Mulcair also did very well and placed a close second. The NDP has been performing very well in BC so it is surprising that Mr. Trudeau scored so well in the province.”
NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair was a close second at 23%, and Elizabeth May was next with 22%.
Maggi adds that while there was no “knockout punch”, Trudeau was “aggressive and animated through the night. Leaders are measured against expectations which is why both Mr. Trudeau and Ms. May both scored so well.”
Being declared the ‘winner’ of a debate, and the winner of an election are two different things, and Thomas Mulcair topped the ranks when asked who would make the better Prime Minister, with 34% saying Mulcair, Justin Trudeau was named by 27% and 21% stood with Stephen Harper.
37% of British Columbians polled think Mulcair will win the October 19th election.
Because the debate ended too late for Mainstreet/Postmedia to contact those in the Eastern time zones for comment, the B.C. results stand alone.
Comments
And the statistics for Mr Harper are?
20% thought Harper won, 21% thought Harper would make the best PM, 28% thought the Conservatives would win the election
The survey also asked who respondents would vote for if the election were held today:
Con – 23%
NDP – 37%
Lib – 26%
Green – 5%
Undec – 8%
The survey can be found here with quite a lot of detail:

I would relay think twice about the NDP as they can’t even organize them self enough to get a candidate for the Prince George riding. And it’s not as if they did not know an election was coming. And they want to run our country [HA HA]
A more meaningful poll would be for Quebec and Ontario…because those are the provinces that elect our government. We just vote to put in a few extras out here.
I would really think thrice about the Cons, they have sold us out to foreign companies, ran up the largest debt ever, have left our veterans high and dry, think it’s okay to invade our privacy on a whim. Constantly lie to us about a balanced budget, cut billions of transfer payments to provinces so we have to make it up provincially. Load senate with theives, etc etc …..
Of course, although everyone knew an election was coming, only Stevie and the Boyz knew he was going to specify the loooooongest campaign in BC history. He must really need all that moolah from the public purse if he has to jack up the amount of subsidies to his party like that. Who would want a Prime Minister who is that self serving and who obviously doesn’t give a tinker’s about the taxpayer. (HA HA)
When Conifex, or Canfor, or West Fraser, or Interfor, buy mills in the USA, as all of them have done, have Obama’s Democrats “sold Americans out to foreign companies?”
If the government had maintained a ‘balanced Budget’ all through the recessionary years from 2008 onward, how many MORE people would have been unemployed throughout those years, and how many MORE businesses would have failed?
Get it through your head, when any sovereign national government pays down its National Debt by any amount that same amount of money is headed for extinction as money. If you have a situation, as we do, where there is already a shortage of consumer purchasing power in the country, (or consumer debt wouldn’t be where it is, 163% of disposable income), and you raise taxes on anyone to pay down a National Debt or balance a national budget, you are further reducing what is already insufficient in its totality to move what we are producing into consumption in the form of goods and services we all require and desire.
Harper didn’t invent or initiate the financial system we labor under. His failing, if you can call it that, is that he hasn’t moved to properly correct what’s wrong with it. He’s tried to boost exports to attempt to correct it. Which helps , but will never quite do the job long term. But NONE of the other Party leaders have either. And what they’d do, raise taxes, would make a bad situation even worse.
This poll asked 1719 people that watched the debate who they thought won. Furthermore it was conducted in BC only. People on Vancouver Island, Greater Vancouver, and the rest of BC were asked. Hmmmmm.
A lot of people I talked to changed the channel from the Canadian debate and watched the Republican debate in the US. (Canadian debate was boring)
If you look closer at the actual poll questions you will see that Harper did much better among the older people who participated, and of course we know that, that is the demographic that usually gets to the polls.
A Mainstreet/Postmedia poll taken about 15 days ago had the following results from decided voters.
Con 38%
NDP 27%
Lib 25%
Grn 6%
Blc 4%
It will be interesting to see some other polls.
and all the NDP supporters can vouch for just how accurate the polls are…..
Socredible:”Get it through your head, when any sovereign national government pays down its National Debt by any amount that same amount of money is headed for extinction as money.”
Paying down a debt means not having to pay interest any more. The borrowed money was created out of nothing and it can be reduced to where it came from: Nothing.
They say that about 30000 (thirty thousand) watched the debate. Latest population count for Canada is 35,755,837 people and “Mainstreet/Postmedia” came up with that?
You know when harper is rattled when he forgets to lie . Like he did when mulcair said we are in recession . He agreed . I almost fell on the floor laughing when he forgot to lie about it . What a Buffoon . He always reminds me of Boris Yeltsin . Great lumbering oaf .
Awesome cause in BC our predictions are bang on!
It’ll be Harper again
Ataloss your hatred for Harper has made you delusional. You conveniently failed to mention the last bit of his statement “the energy sector yes, but the remainder of the economy is doing well.” The energy sector in Canada is not doing well for two reasons. 1. The price of oil is low (we all know that). 2. Notley’s NDP Government in Alberta is taxing the octane out of the industry (only some people will desire to know that). Your At-A-Loss to hold any credibility.
If the NDP ever get into power we can kiss our economy goodbye they will do exactly what the NDP did in BC screw everything up
That’s funny Cheetos . He pulled himself together right away and started lying again . Saying the the oil industry is twenty percent of our economy .math is very difficult for harpy . It’s as difficult for him as telling the truth .
And saying that the rest of the economy is doing well was also a lie . The numbers don’t lie . PGs economy is not tied to the oil industry . Is it doing great . People leaving in droves and unemployment rising . Give your head a shake cheeto.
Ataloss, I’m At-a-loss? Do you live in Prince George? I see houses going up in the West Side of Town, asking prices over 400 Grand; somebody is buying them. When I drive in to work from west of town, traffic is bumper to bumper from Mr. PG to half way up Pedan Hill. I was in Costco on Tuesday the place was packed. I see new stores and restaurants set to open up. I see a couple of hotel slatted to be built, I see the old Simon Fraser Hotel/Sandman being renovated. I see the RB building has been completely redone on the outside. I see a new office building being built across from the police station. I see another office building being built next to the Key Lease building. What’s wrong Ataloss? Take your blinders off and see. I just mentioned a few things that I had happened to notice, like hello.
Cheetos.. Your dictator is going have to learn to play well with others…if he does get back in it will be a minority government. He is such a arrogant person I am not sure he is capable of running canada if he has to get help from other parties to push his bills through.
Most of the contracts are commitments made before we started to slide into the reformacon induced recession . Alberta is also building housing like crazy . It’s awash in for sale signs . We did not see many sold signs . Out there they are crapping their pants . We didn’t hear a single good word about the cons or their congames . You could check it out for yourself . The canary in the mine is when you can rent brand new houses and condos that are not selling .
PVal, I don’t personally know Steven Harper, do you? So I wouldn’t call him a dictator. From what I see he is far from a dictator. Do you know what a dictator is? The choice is simple. Do you want a Drama Teacher (Justin Trudeau), or a Lawyer/politician such as Thomas Mulcair to lead the country? Or Steven Harper Bachelor Degree and Master Degree in Economics? I personally would have Mr. Harper who is trying to lower our taxes, so that we (the tax payer) can spend more money on other things and boost our own economy.
Cheetos,. Did you notice that Ataloss did not answer your question about living in Prince George?? He does not live here. I agree with your assessment that he is delusional, at least when it comes to Harper.
He’s like a musician who has only one tune and plays it over and over driving everyone crazy. You wish he would play another tune, but you also know that he is incapable of doing so.
Drama teacher ? Paleese ! Instead of your steady diet of con talking points . Try educating yourself . JT has a great deal more credentials than does your mail room boy . I would not hire harper to mind a two hole long drop . And no I do not live in PG but I was there a couple of days ago . We have old friends that live there . Maybe you could lend them you rose coloured glass .
Ataloss, “. PGs economy is not tied to the oil industry . Is it doing great . People leaving in droves and unemployment rising”. Maybe not to the degree we are tied to the forest industry but a part of PG’s economy is most certainly tied to the oil & gas industry. As for ” people leaving in droves” ?? Most of the people I’ve met recently, just moved here. If we are in recession where are these droves of people going to? My neighbour told me the other day that he would get a bonus if someone he recommends get’s hired at any of Canfor’s pulp mills.
Back to the debate, I thought Elizabeth May did well but her comment of 2 recessions on Harpers watch was a bit of a stretch & eroded her credibility a bit. Anyone who was fogging a mirror from 2007 on knows the reason for the world wide recession & it most certainly was not Stephen Harper or the Government. As for Trudeau’s performance? Too much complaining & not enough “Here’s what I would do”. It was a yawner, for sheer entertainment the US Republican debate was a hoot.
Palopu . I read the second paragraph first . It describes Steve perfectly . When we are subjected to him trying to manufacture consent over and over . It does drive one around the bend but not far enough to believe deceivin Steven .
Cheetos, he has cut 36 billion in transfer payments to the provinces.. How do you think the provinces will make up for this loss? By raising taxes, fees etc.. He is just deflecting .. for a guy who has a masters in economics he can’t figure out if you give out 3 billion to parents with kids you have to add that money to the budget as a minus.. He just doesn’t include it in his math… I have worked with some very intelligent people who only had there grade 12 and worked with lots with masters and doctorates and some aren’t to bright..wouldn’t want any of them running the country. Just because you went to post secondary doesn’t mean your are intelligent enough to run the country.
I just looked at the list of 15 of the most venomous creatures on Earth. Good news Harper wasn’t on it.
Ataloss as speaking of lies how is your solar powered house doing. You have no credibility here.
Con bashers like to say our elected officials do a lack job of representing PG but the other parties couldn’t care less about PG as they don’t even have candidates here, HA HA.
There’s a good article at vice.com about the debates . They wanted to ask Stevie some questions in the question portion of the debates but in true Stevie fashion , he when out the fire escape . Out the fire escape ! Ah ha ha ha ha . I guess there’s no closet on the set .
Here’s the excerp from the vice.com article .
The one part of last night’s debate you probably missed is when the debate ended. While the opposition leaders dragged themselves to a separate stage to be subjected to a torrent of snarky questions from the assembled journalists, Harper went out the fire escape.
Can’t wait for the Duffy trial to begin and Mike and Nigel to start telling the truth under oath. Given the long wait until the October election there would be enough time to hold a leadership convention, elect a new leader and have some more debates.
Say pg you forgot about the liberals, how convenient.
Any specific upcoming event that I have forgotten but that you have knowledge of?
He ran away and buggered off . Brave sir Stevie . Cue the coconut shells . Ah you just can’t make this stuff up . I love the righties . They are like bubble babies . Nothing gets through the bubble . Not proof . Not truth . Ideology trumps realities every time . They are their own worst enemy . Steve does give 5 interveiws with journalists a day but they have to pay him 3000$ each . Read the article at vice.com .
Conservative participants in conservative events must now sign a gag order . Wow . Blinders and now Stevie’s whipping out gag balls for everyone . What’s next saluting ?
That would make a great cartoon . Steve in a room full of gaged useful idiots .
Prince George:-“Paying down a debt means not having to pay interest any more. The borrowed money was created out of nothing and it can be reduced to where it came from: Nothing.”
—————————————————————————————-
That’s true enough, Prince George, BUT there are two things here. One is the ‘money’ that was created out of nothing and returns to nothing when it’s repaid, and the other is the ‘price values’ of goods and services EXPRESSED in money that were created while that money was in existence, and for which there may no longer be any money in existence to liquidate, and allow the ‘costs’ of production to be fully retrieved in the ‘prices’ necessary to obtain on consumption. A National Debt is a distributing agent. It allows for the necessary injection of new money into the economy at a time when it would not be possible for private borrowing for more production to do the same thing. If governments didn’t run deficits under the current financial set-up, existing private loans in their totality couldn’t be repaid as stipulated. And the level of rising defaults would cause the banking system to constrict further lending, making the overall situation even worse.
If you really hate Canada and all that it stands for you should be voting for the Cons. They are without a doubt destroying this once great country one institution at a time first the Post Office, CBC, Coast Guard, Air Canada, if reelected I am sure they will start to work on the RCMP and our Health Care. All the right wingers believe that one of the richest countries in the world can only afford to give the CEO’s big fat raises and bonuses.
Private loans have to be repaid to lenders who extended credit in the form of mortgages and accounts that carry interest charges. These are usually non-government arrangement.
Governments look after sufficient coinage and dollar bills in circulation in order to enable consumers to purchase and pay if they still rely on that cash method.
I suspect that governments could create their own money in order to pay for infrastructure and to smooth out the ups and downs of the economy. Governments – if they were still exclusively in charge of the creation of money could get away with paying no interest at all. Why would it pay interest to itself if it did not have an agenda to gradually reduce the debt owing to itself for whatever reasons.
However, in present day capitalism governments do not owe money to themselves but to other entities.
Don’t try to explain anything to PrinceGeorge and Ataloss socredible, the brain does not work like a normal person’s and they subscribe to false flag theories and everything that is wrong is Harper’s fault. I have a theory that they went to school together and Harper would not let them copy off his test, a life long vendetta so to speak.
Do you know what a dictator is? The choice is simple. Do you want a Drama Teacher (Justin Trudeau), or a Lawyer/politician such as Thomas Mulcair to lead the country? Or Steven Harper Bachelor Degree and Master Degree in Economics?
==================================
Well, since the role of government is to govern and that is largely accomplished through laws and regulations, I think I’d take the lawyer myself.
I may want an economist as my Finance Minister or Bank of Canada governor, but only if they’ve actually had significant experience working in the field of economics. People with economics degrees without any practical experience are a dime a dozen. Perhaps it would be best for them to get some experience being a researcher at Statistics Canada or some other department before they start deciding policy for the entire country. They just wouldn’t be ready yet. They may have nice hair though :)
Cheetos, my field was economics and I can tell you any one that study it should not be PM. We were taught that people and workers were liabilities as they took profits away from the company and gave nothing in return (American belief). Japan and Europe believed that people and workers were an asset and were just as important as the CEO and owners. They also do not have the great divide between CEO and the workers wages that we have in NA. You are taught that people aren’t real – they are just a figure in the liability column so here in NA a CEO will make a higher wage and larger bonuses by cutting employment even that action cause the company to make less profit.
You trust the country to a lawyer that was sued for libel and lost? Cost his party over 100,000 to bail him out when he worked sat in the national assembly for the Liberal Party in Quebec.
And a lawyer who has bumped his mortgage up 11 times in just over 20 years you want running the countries finances? Really?
Conservative spokesman Kory Teneycke said Friday that only invited guests will be allowed at each and every event over the expected 11-week campaign… It means the Harper campaign is able to avoid controversies like this one about snooping on some students’ Facebook pages and kicking them out of an event. It also avoids any embarrassing protests.
www. canada.com/teenagers+kicked+Conservative+party+rally/4564787/story.html
So if Harper was to stop in Prince George on his 11 week campaign trip, Palopu, slinky and Hart Guy would be ones of a few who could meet him, the rest of us (the general public) would be screened out, this is the way it is in Harperland.

==========================
Oh so it is the finances you are concerned with most? Well then you want the Liberals. They had 9 straight surplus budgets and reduced the federal debt. The Reformers had 7 straight deficits (many observers think that will be 8 once this year is through), the country is currently in a recession and they’ve added billions to the debt.
Or do you think this is golf, where the negative numbers are better?
Typical NDP answer, you really think he will run balanced budgets – not a chance
Nice of you to think of me, Sophie!
I guess that as my obsessive compulsive stalker, you think of me all the time, eh? Haha!
Some on this site would want us to believe that it sucks to be Canadian and to be in Canada!
As a proud Canadian, I’d like to remind those people that they are free to leave Canada anytime that they want to. Just don’t let the door hit you on your butt on the way out!!
In my opinion I think the federal election will follow the same result as our last provincial election. In B.C. The voters, especially the Liberals, remained quiet and held their opinions to themselves to prevent ridicule from the boisterous NDP who seemed to have persuaded the pollsters to predict a NDP win. On Election Day the results were quite different than the polls had predicted. A similar situation could result in a Conservative win.
Or, the election results could end up the same as in Alberta with an NDP win ampm… everyone has an opinion, your opinion has as much of a chance for being right as it is wrong, sorry for putting out a comment that no one here can argue with!
Some on this site are perfectly happy with the way Canada is, others on this site think we can make Canada a better country, a better place. Those who think the status quo and think Canada cannot be improved should leave, those who think Canada can be improved should stay, because that is how you make a better country!
Typical NDP answer, you really think he will run balanced budgets – not a chance
=====================
It’s typical of the NDP to reiterate the facts? Some would disagree with that, LOL ;)
So Ataloss, you’re not from Prince George after all, (good work Palopu) and yet you act as if you know what’s going on in Pr George. You are really At-A-Loss for credibility.
Now NMG you really believe the Liberals had 9 balanced budgets?
Maybe the contrast between the Lib and Cons is, dishonesty verses honesty. The Liberals have been back stabbing eastern Canada for years, starting with Justin’s father Pierre. All those manufacturing jobs in eastern Canada were not all lost under Harper’s watch. The Liberals opened the barn door first. How are the Liberals doing in Ontario? Rummor has it that Ontario is on the verge of becoming a have not Province, something the NDP did to us British Colombian’s a few years back.
Or as my grandma used to say, “if God wanted us to vote, he’d give us candidates.”
Harper is honest Cheetos.. Thanks for the laugh.. He spews nothing but lies.. Balanced budget..Lie.. Families getting $2400 per kid..lies.. Helping veterans…lies.. Why haven’t we heard anything about the trade agreement the cons are working on? Medical system is getting better…lies.. He appoints senators that have Canada’s best interest .. Lies. So easy. Haven’t heard anything truthful out of his pie hole in a very long time.. This is my fav stupid thing he has done lately.. In the USA water she’ll must cap any well within 24 hrs but Harper is giving them 21 days.. Wtf. So he doesn’t care about our environment. Just big business.
“Maybe the contrast between the Lib and Cons is, dishonesty verses honesty.”
Is this sarcasm or just a poorly worded joke? OMG!
P Val, no sense trying to convince Cheetos, Palopu, slinky or Hart Guy that what they are being fed is bio-mass instead of pudding, they will still think it’s chocolate pudding because they have accepted it almost religiously. This is what faith based politics is about, Adam and Eve were created by God, yet every single picture and painting on the Internet of them naked, or near naked, has them with bellybuttons, why is that? Why can’t they understand the implications of having a bellybutton?
This is the mindset of the Conservative Christian right; “to not question”, they will support a church going Prime Minister religiously, no matter how dysfunctional he, or his government, is. One only needs to look at Rob Ford as an example, it did not matter what he did, and he would have still got 20% of the vote because he made one comment during an interview with Peter Mansbridge.
www. cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/rob-ford-says-he-s-quit-drinking-has-had-come-to-jesus-moment-1.2430801
Isn’t that right Cheetos?
http: //tinyurl.com/qyz3vld
As if religion and politics stirred together ever made for a peaceful mix!
Many of the worst dictators were avid churchgoers. Quite a few could be named but their *fame* is of the atrocious kind. Better forgotten….
Fine for all the government employees and lefties that post on here, but the NDP are scary for those that actually work for a living. Their great mantra is that the job creators should subsidize those that choose not to work. Witness the unemployment rates and financial nightmares in Greece, Spain and Italy. The lucky ones up north at least have natural resources which they exploit big time for their economies and the left wing jerks in Canada protest this constantly. Like uh, who’s going to pay the tab for the anti pipelines bunch after our resource industry is destroyed. Get a life.
Sage you should also appreciate the righties , for they are the wind beneath your wings .
So what was one of the first things Harper did when he got his majority government? Well surprise, surprise, surprise… he opened up a Office of Religious Freedom. On February 19, 2013, the Government of Canada officially opened its Office of Religious Freedom, within Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada.
It’s website states; “Canada is recognized globally for its leadership on human rights issues, and takes principled positions to promote Canadian values of pluralism and tolerance throughout the world.”
Yet a recently this is what the United Nations had to say about Canada’s human rights record:
www. embassynews.ca/news/2015/07/23/un-issues-scathing-report-on-human-rights-in-canada/47424
When it come to faith based politics in Canada, that segment of our population has a delusional view of what Canada is becoming and the damage the Harper Government has done to this country. In their eyes Harper literally is “Gods Gift to Canada”.
Contractor , did you know that we ( as a planet ) are pumping 2 million barrels of oil more than we are burning every month ? And that in a month or two we will have nowhere to store it ? What the heck are the NDP going to do about that ? Did you know that Germany last month surpassed the 30 % renewable energy ratio for all their energy and growing . Employment in solar surpasses all the employment in the USA in coal and growing . Think fast canada . Switch gears canada . Yea right . Vote Harper for more pipelines to nowhere .
I really do enjoy reading your facts and truth filled comments Ataloss, thanks for posting them. :-)
Sophie, you should be very careful about even using the words “facts and truths”! After all, you have been known to post less than the “facts and truths”!
Hmmmm, would that make you a liar, Sophie?
And I yours Sophic . Did you just feel a little more wind Sophic ? That was HG gas .
You want the numbers NMG? You like negative numbers don’t you? How about when the Liberals took over in 1993 the debt was around 460 billion. By 1997 that had grown to 610 billion… oops 150 billion increase in just what… 5 budget cycles? They finally got it under control and were able to boast some surplus budgets while we in BC suffered under the NDP as a have not province, think we dropped to 9th place in Canadian provinces for growth at the time but that is another story.
Huh, so that is what that was HG gas, it sure smelled stinky and made me want to throw up in my mouth a little, can’t imagine running into that blow hard at a house party, he would arrive and everyone would leave.
Hmmmm, sounds like Sophie and Ataloss are one in the same. Is he/she having conversations with his/her self.
Once again Ataloss, your even At-a-loss in regards to Adam and Eve being depicted with belly buttons. Hate to let you down, but they didn’t have Polaroid cameras back then, they are just an artist’s rendition as to their physical attributes. Your right 4seasons, Sophie and Ataloss must have a mutual admiration club going, or maybe they are the same person?
Well, it’s been a fun day! Everybody was very knowledgable and respectful! It just goes to show what a little bit of education can accomplish! See ya!
As I recall, the Liberals balanced the budgets they had while in office by downloading much of the debt onto the Provinces, who in turn downloaded what they could of it onto municipalities, and thence onto us. It wasn’t ‘paid off’ in the same sense that a private debt is retired. Taxation increased at all levels of government as we paid more and got ever the less for it. But we can’t blame the Chretien/Martin Liberals entirely for doing this, because the impetus to rein in federal spending and the growth in the National Debt came from the then Reform Party.
The Reformers were completely right about the negative effects they foresaw if the federal government didn’t start to limit the kind of things it was then spending more and more on. Most of these things, aside from utterly stupid ‘make-a-job-for-someone-we’ve-educated-to-the-nth-degree- and-can’t-get-one-befitting-such-qualifications’ type efforts, was to try to pay for things that Canadians used to be able to pay for themselves individually. But now, in part largely because the government has been taking so much in taxation from them, and then spending it seemingly without any limits whatsoever, (or ones that were ineffective, because they cost more to impose than the money they saved), no longer could.
Good comment Socredible!
Unfortunately some won’t believe a word of it because you started your post by saying “As I recall” when what you should have said was “The facts and truths as I recall”, haha!
I’ll be watching during this election, to see what “facts and truths” our mainstream media will choose to share with us! It’s not that they are biased or anything like that, right?
Sage! you just have to learn how to blend them together without bashing and degrading people. You let your mouth do the talking before putting your brain into gear!
You are not always right! You are not always wrong! Learn to debate and be civilized and everyone can have a discussion. Unfortunately, you always want to be write.
Sage! By the way! No body is stocking you. You just show up on every story. There is no way of dodging you. You are everywhere and there is no way to get away from you so that is why people comment on all you useless links and opinions.
The Conservatives on here don’t like me, what a surprise.
Because AGAIN this discussion thread is NOT about me!!! Stick to the topic of Politics in general, or is that asking too much???
On the topic of Politics (wouldn’t want to upset my good friend Sophie), it would appear that Neil Macdonald, Senior Correspondent for CBC News seems to think that our Prime Minister, Stephen Harper didn’t do too bad at all in the debate!
Neil Macdonald! CBC News! Who would have thought? Guess there’s hope for our typically left wing media!
I especially like Mr. Macdonald’s last sentence in his article, the last sentence being:
“But, um, Stephen Harper is the prime minister. And he looked like one.”
Mr. Macdonald’s analysis (remove the 2 spaces)

Do Sophic and Ataloss have a thing going on?
“‘We have hours’ to prevent climate disaster” by Elizabeth May (Member of Parliament and leader of Canada’s Green Party) in The Star (Toronto), 24 March 2009. This was run as news, not an op-ed.
Harper avoided talking about a recession in the leadership debate, and admitted that the economy had taken a dive because of the price of oil, but he said that “80 per cent of the economy was growing”.
Another outright lie!!! Canada’s economy has taken a huge turn for the worse. Between April and May, 80 per cent of the economy actually “SHRANK”. ~ thestar.com
In his bid to hold onto power, Harper lies constantly, he can’t be trusted IMO.
