Conservatives Open Campaign Office

Prince George B.C. – Dozens of party faithful were on hand for the opening of the Conservative campaign office in Prince George today.
Members were treated to free pizza and speeches from both Bob Zimmer (Prince George-Peace River) and Todd Doherty (Cariboo-Prince George) at the 1520 3rd Avenue location.
“Today is to acknowledge the volunteers for us and the work they do,” said Doherty. “We’re so fortunate to have the team we have.”
Is having their office open before the other parties a big advantage?
“I don’t think we have an advantage, ” said Zimmer. “I think we need to win the voters confidence in Prince George and throughout the region. I don’t believe we have safe seats.”

Zimmer one very funny guy, late the games begin
In case any of you were wondering, these guys are what winners look like!
Actually Hart Guy is see more like
like watch me smile while I stab you in the back…
Todd will do fine in Ottawa. He is smart enough to keep his mouth shut, learn the ropes. We will not always be happy with what he has to do to survive. I am sure he will also not be happy with what he has to do, but he is focused enough to know that the game of politics is still about give and take. But we will still be a lot further ahead than having the likes of Dick Harris in their.
I’m not sure how someone is supposed to represented us by keeping his mouth shut. But I guess it worked for Dick and we kept voting him in too.
I wish people would vote to kick these guys out. Under the micro managed Harper style government these type of MP’s know only one line……”yes Mr. Harper, whatever you say, Mr. Harper”
Essentially YES men.
I for one like the type of Canada where we there is a democracy rather than a dictatorship ruled by a backwards thinking Harper!!
I think the time for them to go is now. It’s time for a change!!
get to know these guys! you will see them around for awhile!!
And when Rick Perry was exposed for being dumb on the big stage he opted for a smart looking set of glasses this time around too.
Zimmer especially is a bit of a dim wit. Seen him on the news and all he had to say was how great it was to finally have a fellow conservative in PG that could mind this part of the riding since he was so busy up north.
Reality is these guys are both on their own this election. When the last guy got relected time and time again with out even living within a 800km drive of the riding, he probably couldn’t even point his riding out on a map… it sends the message to Ottawa that PG is not very politically active, and thus not very important on the national stage.
The best liars will win. I thought politicians wore dress clothes. not blue jeans.
Ummmmm… the guy on the right. Doherty. Is he the only one in this race that doesn’t actually have a current job ? Looks well fed though.
Looking forward to Doherty being our MP for this Region. He is here for the people and a hard working man. Go Todd Go
You have our votes Todd! My wife and I both were impressed when we met you in person during the nomination. All the best to you and Bob Zimmer, your ridings will be well represented!
One assumes that most people are aware that the Government is mainly run by the Prime Minister (PMO) and the Cabinet.
In the last election the Conservatives elected a majority Government with 166 seats. Roughly 40 of those elected are Cabinet Ministers. Which leaves 120 elected members that represent their ridings, however they have little influence.
Not all people elected can become Cabinet Ministers. In the case of Harris who was elected consistently for over 20 years, with a huge majority of votes in this riding we can assume quite safely that people in Prince George Cariboo were satisfied with his representation.
What we know for sure is that those 120 elected Government representatives back benchers, even with their limited influence represented their ridings to some level. What we also know is the 133 NDP and 1 Greener, that got elected in the opposition get paid the same as those 120 Conservatives, however they did diddly squat to earn their salaries.
That’s the way our system works. As we all know the constant bleeting about the Conservatives and how they represent the people in this Country comes from the opposition, which is their job, however people are supposed to have a modicum on intelligence and know that 90% of what the opposition say, is in fact unadulterated BS.
Todd is just to lazy. I’m guessing that’s why he’s unemployed. He’s just too lazy.
@ Dave and others Wow, how old are you guys? Do your mothers know you troll this site with such nonsense? FYI Todd and his wife are small business owners, and there is certainly nothing lazy about that occupation!
Please, just following the lead of their great leader Harper. “He’s just too lazy”
I’m sure you have seen a commercial.
And Palopu thanks for clearing things up. What you are telling us is all the crap the Cons-reform said while in opposition whas 90% untrue. But yet you guys gobled all the lies up and vote Con-reform.
@He Spoke, is that really what you want from your MP, someone that will shut up? That’s definitely what you get with Zimmer, and now you want that from Doherty too? I’d much rather have an MP that will stand up for his constituents, not one that will roll over and say “yes Mr. Harper, whatever you want Mr. Harper, can I shine your shoes in exchange for some table scraps Mr. Harper?”
Dave you made me laugh with your comment about Todd being lazy. I would assume you are a long distance cycler and just completed the Northern 400. By the way North 400 folks, great job!. 400kms in one day on a bike. Crazy! I only know of one Dave who was in that but it was not you. Anyway, I suspect noone in this election will work harder than Todd, to get out to the community. I have read several times about him travelling around our region to meet with people.
I can’t do anything about Harper, Bob and Todd are only two votes, but they seem to be very interested in our community. Both when I have talked to them are genuine about what they see our region need. We have a very diverse area with some of the best people, I have ever meet. I will admit I am biased, I grew up here and have lived here most of my life. Yep I am old at least in years.
Let’s get someone in who really understands our region and our people. There is only one way to really do that, and that is to go out and see them. Show me, you travel around our region more than Todd and to put your whole heart and soul into our region and you will change my mind, but to be honest, I don’t even see a close second.
As I said Dave. The job of the opposition is to make the Government look bad, so they can get elected. The job of the electorate is to separate the wheat from the chaff. Some people on the left have difficulty making that separation.
There is a big difference in working hard to get a job and working hard at that job. We are electing someone to represent us. And when you read comments like he knows to keep his mouth shut. I for one don’t want that in Ottawa.
Why would we want to send two guys to Ottawa to represent us that will be too scared to speak.
We are not voting for Harper he has never been here. I’m sure since his popularity is dropping he might make a swing thru BC and Alberta where everyone in drunk on his coolaid. But for all his years in politics he has never been to Prince George.
I for one don’t trust Harper with all the lies that come out of his office, so I will not just vote party lines. I will be listing to the local debates, and looking at the résumés of our local candidates and base who I vote for on that.
