Police Issue Reminder on Safe Storage of Guns

Saturday, August 15, 2015 @ 3:59 AM

Williams Lake, B.C. – Police in Williams Lake are reminding legal gun owners about the safe storage of firearms to avoid being targeted by thieves looking to steal those guns.

With fall not that far off and hunting season underway in some areas of the province, the Williams Lake RCMP want to remind gun owners of their legal responsibility when storing firearms. All firearms must be unloaded and locked or partially dismantled (bolt removed).

Gun owners are advised to attach a secure locking device, such as a trigger lock or cable lock, or remove the bolt so the firearm cannot be fired; or lock the firearm(s) in a cabinet, container or room that is difficult to break into.  Ammunition must be stored separately or locked up.  It may be stored in the same locked container as the firearms.

Failing to meet these requirements could result in Criminal Prosecution for improper storage of a Firearm.

Comments

The rcmp already hate law abiding gun owners. Don’t give them any reason to harass you.

Did you even think before you commented?

Cops are like the anti’s. They think only military and the police should have firearms.

Vote Liberal or NDP and then you won’t have to worry about safely storing your firearms! You won’t have any firearms to store after they take them all away from law abiding citizens!
