Pineview Summer Festival Starts Today

Saturday, August 22, 2015 @ 3:45 AM

Prince George, B.C. – The second annual Pineview Summer Festival goes this weekend.

It features entertainment for all ages including slo-pitch and volleyball tournaments, a pig roast, live music and all sorts of kids games (on Sunday).

Organizer Denise Meise says it serves as both a community event and a fundraiser.

“We have two halls, an ice-rink and this is how we raise money so we can maintain everything.”

She says it’s important such facilities are maintained to help support seniors and youth in the community.

“In our one hall we have a seniors group that meets twice a week and because we’re a rural area sometimes it’s the only place these people can access,” says Meise. “They don’t have the ability to get to town all the time. So this keeps our seniors and youth active.”

She says they’re hoping to raise at least $5,000. The event runs all day today and tomorrow.
