City Steps In to Speed Up Lombardy Clean Up

Prince George, B.C.- The City of Prince George has hired contractors to help remove debris from the Lombardy Mobile Home Park on Norwood Street.
The mobile home park is subject to a remedial action ordered by City Council in June, and upheld in late July.
The contractors have already started removing abandoned scrap metal frames and two trailer structures from the park.
The City will pay the costs associated with the hiring of the contractors, and then add the amount to the owner’s property taxes to recoup the money.
Three other remedial actions were ordered by Council:
- Clean up at 525 George Stree was completed mid July by the City and billed to the owner
- Clean up of 1451 Blackburn Road was completed by the property owner on time.
- Clean up of 231 George Street has not yet been started although the deadline was August 4th. A pre-demolition environmental assessment of that property is nearing completion and work can’t start until all environmental hazards are known. The owners had requested an extension until later this fall, but Council rejected that request.

The owner of the trailer?
The owners of the property. Most, if not all, of those trailers are rentals. Renters are not responsible for the landlord’s property taxes.
Trailers do pay taxes.. Its sent to the registered owner.
