Prince George, B.C. – Diversifed, the bus company responsible for transporting kids in School District 57, is rolling out a new online bus delay service this fall.

“So for whatever reason the bus might be delayed, whether it’s weather or it’s a spare driver unfamiliar with a route and is taking their time, there’s two ways that parents can register to monitor this,” says operations manager Luis Gonzalez.

“The website is myschoolbusmonitor.com (click here). People can log in, type in the name of the school and it’ll publish all the routes that go to that school and if there’s a delay, they’ll receive a notification.”

Parents can also receive notifications by going to diversifiedbus.ca (click here ).

“So if your route is delayed, or your kids route is delayed, you will get an email instantly letting you know the reason for the delay and the expected delay.”

Gonzalez says roughly 4,500 students have registered to ride the bus district wide and attributes the changes to helping “getting out the message” in a more timely manner.

And once school starts next week, he also reminds drivers to take the proper precautions his 100 plus drivers stop.

“When motorists see school buses with yellow flashing lights, slow down and stop for the buses,” says Gonzalez. “When you see yellow amber lights flashing, the reds take over once the door is open. So once the door is open the reds will be on and some people think they still have time to pass.”

He says there are three problem areas in town – Nukko Lake, Southridge and Beaverly.

“What we ask the public is once you see amber, stop or prepare to stop.”
