BC Hydro Plans Emergency Power Outage in P.G. on Saturday Morning

Friday, September 4, 2015 @ 4:16 PM

Prince George, B.C.- Prince George residents living north of the Nechako River, MAY  find themselves without electricity early tomorrow morning for about 3 hours.

BC Hydro says insulators on one of it’s power poles failed,  causing the pole to burn.   While that problem has been rectified, there will  need to be a  major  repair made, and that could mean  a power outage  that would impact  up to 7700 customers on the north side of the Nechako.

“We will try and  transfer customers over to other circuits” says BC Hydro spokesman Bob Gammer, but depending on circuit load,  some, or all of the customers north of the Nechako could be  without electricity for up to 3 hours.  The areas to  be potentially impacted are: north of the Nechako River  in Prince George,  through Salmon Valley, and  the Chief, Ness and Nukko Lakes  areas.

The major repair work is slated  from 5:30 Saturday morning, to 8:30 Saturday morning.
