Prince George, B.C. – The 42nd annual Labour Day Classic is underway in Prince George.

Over 100 runners are registered for a series of races today, including a 17 mile race and a 1 km kids fun run for kids under 12 years old.

And despite the chilly conditions, race director Dennis Straussfogel says the weather is ideal.

“This is almost perfect race weather, I couldn’t be happier. Runners like it cool, not hot.”

17 mile participant Glenn Currie of Vanderhoof agrees, noting he’s been on somewhat of a mission the past few years.

“My goal is to do five marathons and five halves by the time I’m 50 and I’m 50 next May,” he says, noting the Labour Day Classic is a part of his 18 week training program.

“So I’ve done 5 halves and I’ve done three fulls. I have another full in two weeks and I’ll hopefully do another one before the middle of May next year.”

You got that right! I just looked at the weather in PG it would be absolutely gorgeous for a race. I went out this morning and the humidex was already reading near +30 at 8AM, LOL.

One day I’d like to come back and take part in the Labour Day Classic. Sounds like a great event.
