Calling All Gardeners-Free Compost
Prince George, B.C. – As gardeners make preparations to put their gardens to bed for the winter, comes good news from the Regional District of Fraser Fort George.
Tomorrow, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. bring a donation of a non perishable food item to the Foothills Landfill and get a free truckload of NorGrow compost in return.
NorGrow is produced at the landfill in accordance with the Provincial Organic Matter Recycling Regulation, and is classified as a Class A compost.
NorGrow bulk compost is produced from local yard and garden waste which is generated by both residential and commercial customers. Yard and garden waste is made up of grass clippings, leaves, shrubs, and branches.
When used as a soil amendment, compost is a significant source of organic matter that is beneficial to soils and plants.
. Organic matter improves soil and plant efficiency by improving the physical properties of the soil, providing a source of energy to beneficial
organisms, and enhancing the reservoir of soil nutrients.
