Donating to Syrian Relief
Prince George, B.C.- Since the Federal Government announced it would match dollar for dollar ( up to $100 Million) the donations by Canadians to Syrian Relief efforts, many have asked how, or where, they could contribute.
The Province has made it easy.
As was the case with the recent wildfires that impacted the communities of rock Creek and Oliver, BC Liquor stores will accept donations of $2 or $5 dollars or multiples thereof.
All money will be turned over to the Red Cross, which is a registered charity. It is also the group which the Federal Government is working with as the Red Cross and Red Crescent already have relief efforts underway in Syria.
Every dollar donated will be matched by the Federal Government up to a maximum of $100 million.
The donations will be used to provide emergency supplies to Syrian refugees, including water, food, clothing, temporary shelter, blankets and hygiene items. The funds will also support basic health care and psychological counselling for refugees, as well as help to reunite family members displaced by the conflict.
The matching program is in effect until December 31st.

Why don’t they do this for Canadians that need it, all the time? I went by the soup kitchen the other day, they looked worse off than the refugees. They weren’t wearing Under Armour or using the latest iphones, and I bet they wouldn’t throw the food back at you if you offered it to them on the street.
Remember when the media was scaring you about the riots in Egypt? That hasn’t stopped. Remember when Ebola was the thing you had to worry about, and be scared of? Ebola is still there.
I’ve went off on a rant, back to the article at hand.
I agree with PG101.. Govt should match what these Agencies are trying to accomplish,
I see in the morning paper were they had international troops training Syrians to fight for there country and the first fight they all ran and left the fighting to our troops. They won’t even stand up to fight for there own country but instead run with there tail between there legs.
After what I have seen on the internet with the radical behaviors from these people one would ask ” why help”? I know there is good people in all walks of life, unfortunately the bad out weigh the good in this case. Nothing has change as far back as I can remember and unless there is a miracle I see nothing changing in the future. Leaves you wondering about “Muhammad” mission for humanity doesn’t it.
Everybody is on the donation bandwagon. The Feds, the Prov Gov’t, the online bank Tangerine, even Google, are all collecting donations. That’s just four I’m aware of.
Sorry, my donation money is spoken for. Terry Fox Run this Sunday.
@ Brother Gecko – Great point.. why not contribute all this refugee money to a wonderful Canadian, and cause.. like the Terry Fox Foundation? Nah, that makes too much sense.
