Prince George,BC- Residents of Prince George wearing their Canucks jerseys ignored the rain this morning for a chance to see Trevor Linden at City Hall.

The Canucks are in Prince George for training camp and the weekend event has already been a boost to the local economy .”We know between 2 and three thousand people have come to Prince George to see the Canucks training camp which just proves what Trevor (Linden) has said, the Canucks are BC’S team” said Mayor Lyn Hall.

For his part,Linden thanked the City of Prince George and the Prince George Cougars for making this weekend happen.

we are all canucks? arrrgh! as much as it is great to have them up here, I am NOT! only one team I dislike more than the canucks, the leafs. lol go habs!
welcome to prince George guys and have fun

Nice to see the Canucks come out of the lower mainland and recognize that their fan base is greater than just southern BC, but let’s not suggest that “we are all Canucks”! Some of us actually cheer for Stanley Cup winning teams! ;-)

are they in PG because Vancouver is ashamed of them and no longer wants them around until they improve?

Come on you guys, this is a good news story all the way round. Good for PG, good for the Canucks and good for all the area hockey fans who can make it to the rink in the next few days to see the guys practice.

I agree with Nechako man. How can this be anything but a good news item? As my handle indicates, I am a Habs fan all the way. Having said that, every year I do hope that the “Nucks do well.

Another thought: For many attending these sessions, this might be as close as they will get to seeing the Canucks live on-ice. The cost of travel and hotel, plus ticket prices and food makes going to Vancouver to catch a game next to impossible for many people.

Good things do seem to be happening in Prince George ever since the Canada Winter Games (let the tirades begin against this last comment, haha)
