City Staff Commended For Outstanding Flower Beds
EnhancePG’s Marlies Greulich presents City Parks Dept staff with award
Prince George, BC – The City’s gardeners have been recognized for their artistry in creating the beautiful backdrop, against which, we all enjoyed a spectacular summer…
At Monday night’s Council meeting, EnhancePG’s, Marlies Greulich, presented members of the City’s Parks Department with a Good Neighbour Certificate in recognition of the outstanding gardens and planters that bloomed throughout Prince George this summer.

Greulich said she heard so many positive comments while out in the community that she really began to pay attention.
“I noticed that the gardening staff had not only created the usual flower beds,” she told councillors, “But they’d enhanced them by including a wide variety of shrubs, grasses, and less common flowers – a whole field of sunflowers was towering on one corner of an intersection, replacing the usual grass only.”
“It must have taken months of planning to create this right combination of plants and colours to achieve the overall results.”
Greulich noted that this past July’s extreme heat would have required extraordinary measures to maintain and pointed out that there are still planters and flower beds in full bloom as September draws to a close.
EnhancePG is the City’s volunteer committee tasked with fostering community involvement in greening and beautifying Prince George.
Greulich said committee members wanted to say a huge ‘thank you’ to Parks Department staff, “This certificate is well deserved and just confirms what city residents have already expressed.”

I fully agree! They have done an outstanding job!
Yes the flowers are lovely it is a nice little park up there, unfortunately I had to use the bathroom and they were not so nice, hadn’t been cleaned that day!
There are so many areas around the city that have truly beautiful flower gardens this year. (corner of Hwy 16 and 20th ave, Hwy 16/197 intersection, 15th and Victoria area) A BIG thank you to our city gardeners and groundskeepers. You have done a stellar job!
I agree with the above. Kudo’s to the City Staff for a job well done.
Don’t raise the bar too high lest you incur the wrath of your co-workers. :)
