Spruce Kings Beer Sales Begin Late October
Prince George, BC – Prince George City Council this week approved a policy revision that will allow the Prince George Spruce Kings Hockey Club to serve alcohol in the general seating area of the Coliseum during games. But it won’t be happening during the team’s home games this weekend.
The Spruce Kings host the Cowichan Valley Capitals at 7 tonight, then meet the Penticton Vees at 7 Saturday night at the Coliseum. Spruce Kings’ President Tom Bohmer says the necessary licensing won’t be in place for this weekend, “but we’re looking for the next round of home games.”
Bohmer says “I’m thinking when we play Coquitlam back-to-back on the 23rd and 24th (of October) we should have everything done by then.” He says details regarding beer pricing and the way the product will be delivered are still being finalized through the submission of the licensing paperwork.
The Spruce Kings are the last team in the 17-team BC Hockey League to begin offering alcohol service at their games. There will be alcohol-free sections within the stands.

jus what this city needs more DUIs after the game …I guess good learning tool for the kids when the parent gets hauled off to cells for the nite…
Tliotg so you seem informed from your post.. So please enlighten us to how much DUIs have risen on nights of the Cougars games since beer has been allowed in the stands. I am sure you know.. If not then you are just wasting everyone’s time with your rambling.
I have been to a few Cougars games since they allowed beer and I have not seen anyone drunk yet.
been to a concert lately…..??? at CN center
A concert is different from a hockey game…settle down tliotg!!
Guess you should be on council.
tliotg, what you are witnessing at a CN Centre concert is not from beer sales. It’s binge drinking before arrival, as well as other “substances” consumed before / during / after.
You must be new to going to concerts.
