Prince George, B.C. – For the first time ever, a woman will fill the top Board position at the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of Northern BC (CHBA-NBC).

President Jody Tindill steps into the role after serving one year as vice-president with the organization. She says she’s looking forward to the challenge.

“Absolutely. Some of the work that we’ve done in the past year will now roll into my term and we’re going to grow the association and get some education out to the builders.”

Tindill has been the driving force behind helping builders work towards their Certified Housing Professional designation.

She also has a wide range of career experience she feels will help her as president.

“I’m also the controller of the Prince George Public Library, so I have a financial background in my career,” she says.

“I’ve worked in the housing industry as a supplier for almost 15 years and I’m also well known in that community. The builders know me, and I’ve also been a builder for the last five years with my partner (Belledune Homes).”

Tindill replaces previous president Rod Croome and will serve a two year term.

Why does it matter if the person is male or female ? As long as they are qualified for the job is all that matters.

Therein lies the problem. It hasn’t always been about qualifications, this looks to be a step to rectify that problem.

don’t see any thing about her being a builder

caper, I guess that you missed the part where Jody states:

“The builders know me, and I’ve also been a builder for the last five years with my partner (Belledune Homes).”

Women are taking over the top spots in all sorts of areas.

1. Premier
2. MLA’s
3. Principals
4. Lawyers
5. Doctors
6. Business Managers
7. Heads of Government entities like BC Hydro, Site C, etc; etc;
8. Heads of other Government entities like NDIT, IPG, etc; etc;

So they are in fact very well represented in the Province. I suspect one of the reasons is, that they are much better workers, and are more dedicated to their jobs. Just sayin.

Another example would be the Chief Negotiator for the TPP .

Kirsten Hillman was the Chief Negotiator, along with her two female deputies.

my partner a lawyer know lots of lawyer doesn’t let me be a lawyer

Not surprising – women have traditionally been home makers. :)

Congratulations Jody. The CHBA-NBC is in good hands!

CNN Money writes: “Only 14.2% of the top five leadership positions at the companies in the S&P 500 are held by women, according to a CNNMoney analysis.

It’s even worse if you just consider the very top. Out of 500 companies, there are only 24 female CEOs.”

“22 year guys are taking over the top spots in all sorts of areas.”

True or false?

The Manager of the PG Construction Association is a woman. Roz Thorn has been in that position for many decades ….

The Manager of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of Northern BC is also a woman … Terri McConnachie

To the best of my knowledge none of them have ever built anything commercially in their lives. There are other skill sets required for such positions.
