Advance Poll Reminder
Saturday, October 10, 2015 @ 4:09 AM
Prince George, B.C. – In case you missed it previously, Advance Polls for the October 19th federal election are open this weekend.
Advance polls are open today, Sunday and Monday from noon until 8pm each day.
If you do plan on voting early, make sure you head to the right location. You must go to the poll that is associated with your home address. That information can be found on your voter information card or online at www.elections.ca by entering your postal code.
You must also take your identification. That can be a government-issued ID such as a drivers licence or provincial ID with your photo, your name and your current address.

and be prepared to wait….. it was 45 minutes yesterday
Wait time depends on the poll and time of day. I was in and out in 5 minutes Friday after work.
We have some good candidates this time around (Cariboo-PG); exercise your franchise!

I’m going to use this story as a platform for another…
Please, please makes sure (double sure) that you are registered to vote, even if you’ve been voting from the same address for decades.
Elections Canada has had some serious screw-ups, and some folks are getting de-registered even though they’ve been registered to vote for years. Even those who have been allowing CRA to pass their information on to Elections Canada have found themselves not registered, or registered in regions they’ve never lived in.
Elections Canada is calling it “very isolated” and an acceptable level of systemic error. But the story keeps growing with more people coming forward with their Elections Canada troubles.
When it’s already difficult to get people off their rears to get out and vote, making it a difficult process does not help. Like one journalist wrote, Elections Canada should be the grease, not the grit.
I haven’t heard of any voter card snafus in PG yet. It’s a safe Conservative riding so not a target for Conservative party electoral fraud/antics.
I have encountered registration issues withing my family, 3 out of 7 of us did not receive voter cards. In one of our cases, the family member had moved from one riding to the other withing PG. The elections Canada office was able to get that straightened out in less than 10 minutes. The advanced polls also have a person who is able to register you. I voted yesterday and had to wait about 20 minutes. 3 friends tell me they were in and out in less than 5 minutes.
I was concerned I may not be registered, so I checked online and they said I was not registered, so I then registered online. 2 weeks later I got two voter cards…..hmmmm does that mean I get to vote twice? lol
Hi all – I’m in Terrace for Thanksgiving. The advance polls are busy here too, with line ups in the rain! Very interesting.
When Lyin Brian got turfed out there was a huge turn out at the polls . History has a habit of repeating itself .
