Decision Day
Prince George, B.C.- It has been one of the longest election campaigns in Canadian history ( the other being in 1872) and it comes to an end today.
Polls are open from 7 this morning to 7 tonight, and the Elections Act allows media outlets to start sharing election results earlier than has been the case in the past.
Under the rules, the ban on the early transmission of election results has been lifted. Media area allowed to transmit the results to their audiences anywhere in Canada as they become available. That means results from the Eastern provinces will be available while voting continues in B.C. 250 News will post early results from other provinces as they become available, but our full election coverage starts after the BC polls close at 7 p.m.
Because this is election day, comments will not be allowed on any stories posted by 250News today as we are not allowed to publish new polls, ( or links to polls) or new “ads” ( which could come in the form of a comment) on election day.
Getting to the polls has been made easier as the City of Prince George is offering free transit today, and there is a shuttle service available as well as 250News reported yesterday, Nyela Glazier is offering to help people get to the polls, all you have to do is call 250-563-7712 and someone will pick you up, drive you to the poll, and take you home.
Elections Canada reminds you to bring your voter’s card to the poll with you, in an effort to speed up the process. Don’t forget your government issued ID. One piece of Government issued ID is all that is needed if it has your photo and current address, if not, two pieces will be required.
