From the Globe and Mail, October 22, 2015:
“Downgraded economic forecast bad news for Liberals”
“Only two days after his dramatic election victory, Justin Trudeau has learned that the economy is not going to grow as much as he had expected over the next couple of years, which could put pressure on his economic agenda.”
“The Liberal election platform is based on the Bank of Canada’s July economic growth forecasts, but the central bank released an update Wednesday that downgraded its outlook for 2016 and 2017.”
ht tp://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/downgraded-economic-forecast-puts-crimp-in-liberal-plans/article26922327/
That’s not news. Everyone knows the Harper era was one of ever lowering interest rates to float an ever expanding ponzi scheme of debt based economics.
Realestate in places like Toronto and Vancouver are among the highest priced in the world and have no where to go but down when interest rates, and manipulation of the foreign tax loop holes get closed. That in itself has some significant downside for those areas of the country, and when the country as a whole faces rising mortgage costs.
Then if TPP goes ahead and Trudeau doubles down on globalization it has a recession baked right into it.
News is when Veterans Today runs stories on an Israeli Brig. General, with his name and Israeli military ID number, getting captured north of Baghdad last week helping isis plot to hold onto a refinery town that the Iraqi’s took back from isis. Meanwhile the Israeli leader is busy trying to convince everyone that will listen that Hitler caused the holocaust because the Palestinians asked him too… meanwhile the Germans were compelled to come out and say no it was Hitler and not the Palestinians. Netanyahu is a complete madman and Canada under Harper pledge to fight their fights….
And Canada has a multi-billion dollar weapons supply deal for the Saudi monarchy; meanwhile the Saudi’s commit war crimes in Yemen and supply isis with 30,000 vehicles. The Saudi’s have reportedly sent shoulder fired anti aircraft weapons to the Sunnis in Syria to shot down Russian planes… No wonder our CF-18 should not be flying in the area.
And then we have Americans dropping weapons by the tons out of the back of airplanes in Syria claiming they are going to the terrorists that fight on ‘our side’ against the Assad government terrorists, but we are to believe in no way aiding the isis terrorists.
The big news is our news media fails to inform Canadians about the duplicity of everything going on in the middle east these days. Maybe the CBC needs more funding to have actual eyes and ears on the ground giving some independent reporting for Canadians.
Trudeau I think would be smart to just walk away from the whole stinking mess. Let the Russians strong arm Syria into some kind of peace deal that sees Assad go into exile, they have the local population supplying them with isis foreign fighter coordinates, see how far they can go. Maybe aid the Kurds to protect their interests and assist with humanitarian aid… but Canada should work with known NGO’s and not be involved in some kind of militaristic approach with the worst kind of allies any dignified country could be saddled with. Getting to involved with these kinds of people runs risks to our own democracy and freedoms.
Well said Eagleone. The media has become too manipulated by powerful corporations with self-serving agendas.
Ah, it’s refreshing not to be talking election campaigns anymore.
I was hoping for a Free for All that didn’t mention Trudeau, Harper or Israel. I should probably just go back to bed…
Keep right except to pass! :)
Have a good sleep axman.
LOL.
At 50 yrs old Shania still got it. Oh ya and she can still sing to. What a great show,
yep, Shania still has a decent bod. nice long legs.
Shania was great. She’s gorgeous. Only 5’3″ tall though……nothing long about those legs! Clever wardrobe choices. She put on a wonderful show.
Thoroughly enjoyed the Shania Twain show last night my biggest complaint were the 3 women in the late 30’s to early 40’s sitting in the row in front of me when I started counting they had already shuffled down their row several times after I started counting they moved 23 times.
It got to the point those in my row and the people in their row were yelling at them and eventually event security got involved and told them that they either were to sit or they would remove them from the stands. Of course the women didn’t listen and security removed them from their seats to everyone in our sections great joy.
My biggest question is why these bimbos felt the need to do the isle shuffle every 5 friggen minutes
Go Blue Jays
If it was 2 bimbos and 1 was dressed in white shirt they didn’t get removed they got placed else where. But I agree people behind them could not see the show because they were standing all the time. Have some consideration for people that paid good money to see the show as well.
I also went to Shania last night. Yes, it was a good show and I am glad that we did buy tickets – but was it worth almost $500 for my husband and I to go? No, but that is one of the drawbacks of living in a smaller community which brings in large acts. The cost goes up. I wish I had seen her in her younger days. Her band drowned her out for large portions of each song, mostly the upper register, which resulted in many of her songs being somewhat disjointed. Even her 3 quieter songs were disappointing with large portions being sung by the audience. I am sorry but I didn’t buy a ticket to hear my neighbour sing “Your the one”. I thought the crowd for the most part was pretty good. We didn’t complain about the woman who stood up in front of us for the whole show, nor the young girl behind who bopped up and down the stairs for the first half, emptied her beer down my back and soaked my coat, lost her cell phone under my seat and then passed out shortly after. Still, I am glad we went but I have checked it off my bucket list and probably won’t go to another one of her concerts.
It’s a slow news day when people standing at a concert causes a stir! My question is, why would you NOT stand? Last concert I went to was The Tragically Hip and my wife and I didn’t leave our feet once. We danced in front of our seats, as did everyone around us. Am I missing something here??

Different audience. Last night’s concert was for the older country / pop crowd, the Hip was for an older rock crowd. Geritol sales were probably up the day after either concert.
1. Harper Government gone.
2. Bill C-51 is alive and well.
3. 33 Liberals including Trudeau voted for C-51
4. Will Trudeau do anything about C-51.
5. Last but not least, will we hear anything from all those who whined, shrilled, and bleated about the evils of C-51, now that the Liberals are in power. In other words. Is the issue dead, C-51 alive and well, and those who opposed C-51 are now ready to admit that is was all politics??, or will the debate continue with a view of having Trudeau get rid of C-51.
It will be interesting to see how much effort those opposed to C-51 will make now that their favorite target Harper is gone.
Have a nice day.
At least Minnesotans get it.

Palopu, Trudeau had already said he would modify C-51. In any event it won’t survive a reference to the Supreme Court of Canada. After all regardless of what Harper believed his status in Canada was, no Government supersedes the Canadian constitution and Bill of Rights and Freedoms. Your precious C-51 won’t survive the first parliament under JT
Yesss WHO wants to talk about Harper when there’s the concert to talk about… SHANIA ROCKED..great concert. People up in the bleechers were well behaved.. It was worth the price going. Don’t think there was an empty seat.
Heard more tickets were released before the concert, so the scallopers lost out
NyteHawwk. Trudeau said during the campaign that he would make some changes to the oversight portion of this bill. So we wait with bated breath. You seem to forget that he along with 32 other MP’s voted for it. Are you suggesting that after voting for it, he will **scrap** it.??
In any event we will just have to wait and see. Same thing for the TPP, he has by now seen the document, so my guess is that he will agree with the contents, and away we go.
Anybody with family or friends in Puerto Vallarta and area should take note, one of the strongest hurricanes in history is about to hit them.
I would like to know who the project manager was for the concrete dividers that were installed on the Hart Highway this week. Why would they choose the morning rush hour to start the project on Monday through Thursday? Each day they held up traffic during the morning rush hour and then were done working by 1 p.m. each day. Couldn’t Completely rude planning on behalf of that person, in my opinion. Obviously they don’t live up the Hart.
My last post should have read “Couldn’t they have started at 9/9:30ish and completed the work in 2 days instead of 4? Completely rude …”
I love scalloped potatoes.
The wife and I had that conversation bornandbred – I would like to hear a reason for the timing, assuming they had one. I would think its no fun for the workers to have that much traffic around either. I would also like to see the dividers carried on past the husky so that the left turners can quit causing accidents while they stop traffic in rush hour to get their smokes.
Have a great weekend everyone.
I know tickets to Shania where expensive..but a lot cheaper than paying the cost of flying to Vegas to see her :-)
Palopu.. Your hilarious, Justin has been “in power” 4 days.. Harper was given 10 years to make his mess and you seem to think Trudeau can fix it in 4 days? Wee bit delusional don’t ya think ;)
City busting Earth Grazer Asteroid imminent near miss – just discovered 2 weeks ago

So what do you think of our BC Liberal government deleting FOI documents? I say more corruption.
Well you guys in George blew it. I guess 250 needs to stick with the news and stay away from polling.
So the NDP was leading and look what happened. The big problem now is that you have MP’s that are not part of the ruling government. Will you guys be sorry when the poop hits the fan..
And Pal has cow stuff all over his face. Hope he doesn’t get blow flies as well.
Abbotsford there was no question as to who would win the seat and we are in the same predicament with a Harperman in parliament. I guess as long as there is a God the church will rule
Well best of luck .See you in the spring.
Cheers
Lucky Shania came to town politics or bad driver comments this am only Pal would try and face the music with a sad song.
Cheers
Retired 02,. I drove throw Abbotsford last Saturday, and if there is one thing that is certain it is that you should be an expert on cow pie and blow flies. What a stink. Much worse than the pulp mills in Prince George.
From some of your posts I would say that the methane gas from the cow pie is effecting your ability to think straight.
The fact of the matter is, I can live with the loss of the Conservatives, but can you and the NDP’ers live with the huge loss of the NDP, or the Liberal win. Be careful what you wish for.
The big question to-day is . Tom (Thomas) who?.
Morning all! All I have to say is that driving is a privilege not a right. When you pick up that phone to text while your driving you are basically telling yourself it’s okay to injure or kill someone today just to send that last smiley face or what have you. That text is more important than yours, mine or that boy on his bike’s life. I wish people would get it. It’s too bad it’s one of those things that we wait till something bad happens before we change. I would like to see people lose there licenses for a day, week or longer then maybe they might appreciate the drive to work a little more.
PG righties are still in Lynton Crosby mode . Cute eh ? Poor PG you hung on to your ideology but that’s all you’ve got now . I predict that in the next election the con vote will be even smaller . the demographics of canada are changing by the day and will be quite different by the time the next election comes around . Like Aesop said the sun is the most powerful of powers . Trudeau knew this and used it to whipe the floor with the cons and ndp .
Hey Ataloss did you suffer a spark from your solar system?
Some people are sure quick to jump on the liberal bandwagon after their party was obiterated this election…
Further on the demographics between 14 to 15% (and growing ) of the population is over 65 the greater bulk being well over 65 . We are dying at a rate of 250k to 300k per year . The bulk of the con vote is in that group . So we may never again end up with con govs . The Yukon pop. is the fastest growing in canada . The cons were whipped out there .
Here in Prince George we have cold and flu season for 6 weeks in late fall and early winter. In Abbotsford they have mould and PEE-U season from October 1st to May 1st.
Urban legend says that the Innuit have 700 words for snow, in Abbotsford they have a similar number to describe rain. In an effort to end all the wasted hours standing around the water cooler getting into the minutia of the previous days rain city council has passed a bylaw to greatly simplify the descriptions of rainfall in a parlance all citizens of Abby can understand.
Going forard the following 6 adjectives will be the only acceptible terms to describe rainfall in workplaces.
Pellet: light drizzle
.22 : Sprikle
9mm : steady rain
357 : heavy rain
.45 : torrential downpour
AK47 : Got Noah’s plan. Anyone know how big a cubit is?
Palopu; You want my prediction on C-51?
Trudeau will refer it directly to the Supreme Court of Canada, which will in turn rule that it violates our Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and is therefore illegal. At that point the government will repeal it entirely and replace it with something a little less draconian in nature and compliant with both the Charter, and the wishes of the majority of Canadians!
“Have a nice day.”
Thank you! You are full of hypotheticals, again and still.
Trudeau’s Liberals voted for C51 (because of some worthwhile aspects contained in it) with the proviso (conditions attached) that when elected C51 would be gone over and modified with respect to concerns about citizen privacy, human rights and the constitution. Then it will be passed by the new majority government. All the other parties can vote as they wish, it won’t make a difference.
Christy Clark’s liberals involved with illegally deleting emails ..this chick will do anything except be truthful.
24 Sussex Drive is full of asbestos , lead piping , lead paint, leaking roof and structural deficiencies . Stevie ,family lived there for a decade and Stevie knew this from day one . I knew he loved the asbestos industry as much as he loves the oil industry but geez . Put his whole family in harms way ? What the heck is going on in that guy’s head ? Let’s hope Trudeau doesn’t move in there till its remediated . His mum says he’s not moving in to Sussex .
R02:”Well you guys in George blew it.”
Yes, too many people here are still thinking it is better to have little or no influence in Ottawa. Why? You ask. At least you have an explanation for the Abby dilemma. We are just puzzled! Especially when our MPs did not even live here, one up North and the other one on the Canada/US border. Out of sight – out of mind. Cheers!
P Val–I think what is really needed with Christy and some of her staff is jail time. There has been too much corruption with Clark and her government and no accountability to the citizens of this province.
I drove throw Abbotsford last Saturday,
Pal don’t give me that stuff they wouldn’t let you drive through Abbotsford you smell worse then our City. But your like all the PC’s all they know is sarcasm but I guess you were thought by Harperman.
And the rain has never bothered me. I have worked in it can played in it (fishing). I have worked at in temperature’s at -40 Actually the average participation is higher in PG then on some parts of our coast. I’m to old to shovel snow or freeze in the cold.
Cheers
Retired 02. Who are they??

I thought that was strange timing as well but since it only added a couple of minutes it was no big deal. Just be thankful the city crews weren’t doing it, they’d still be arguing over whose turn it was to press the start button.
Since we all know ,that a son of a smart politician.
Does not be get a smart leader.
Ask our friends south of the border.
About the George W Bush experience.
Only time will tell in Canada.
If Justin is the Canadian version or not.
I see that former IPG staff are on the move to city hall while Rob Whitwham and 8 members of his staff will be moving to the vacated space on 1st Ave. Huh? IPG had offices apart from city hall so they could make decisions without undue influence from council and city staff. So they move an entity that can and should run at arms length from city hall in it’s place move people who report directly to the city manager. Does not make a lot of sense.
The 500k potential savings used as justification for the move are quickly disappearing with the 250k in renovations to city hall to provide office space for IPG. The rest will disappear as Rob and his staff waste countless hours driving back and forth to city hall for meeting, budget discussions, etc. Better give him the city Leaf for the commute forth and back.
R02
I figured out your obsession with the Harperman video…..the Raging Grannies as backup singers. You felt a tingle in your nether regions an area you thought was long dead as it was last heard from in the early 1990’s :P
Wishing R02 would get a prescription filled for Viagra. Tired of all the negativity from him.
CBC poll today . Should 24 Sussex be renovated ? 93 % yes .
Not really sure why you’d bother going to a concert if your not going to stand up and enjoy the atmosphere at least once in a while. That being said I personally didn’t think the Shania show was all that great. I was on the floor and nobody around us were even dancing! Maybe it’s just an age thing but the Jason Aldean crowd was better. Rowdy or not.
Time for the politics to be put to bed for a while. The country as a whole has spoken, Harper is gone. So tired of hearing about how Steve did so well. Scandals, lies, smoke and mirror economics and his dictator style rule did not make him a favorite of the majority in this country. His die hard supporters can now shut up, no amount of crying can change this fact.
Hoping that JT and his party brings true democracy back to Ottawa.
Lucky that nobody got run over after the concert last night. Many drunks behind the wheel during the escape from CN Centre. Traffic control and RCMP should be present at the end of these events.
Enjoy the weekend! Winter is just around the bend.
Got a feeling our moose season is gonna have to be drastically curtailed or cancelled for a couple years. Hunters who have been successful in the past are seeing nothing out there, don’t know how the meat cutters are doing.
Been out quite a bit different areas here, very little sign, it’s time for conservation before they’re all gone.
Watchdog. Ever heard of the Senate?? Ever heard of any legislation in Canada being passed without a Senate vote?? Ever heard of a majority in the Senate?? There is a Conservative majority in the Senate at this time. Hmmmmmm.
Axman, if city crews were doing the work it would be done right the first time.
On another note, does anyone have any suggestions on how to get out of Daylight Savings time? It’s become more of a burden than an advantage.
You pick the topic, but please, be respectful of each other, even if you don’t agree with their opinion. We ask that you keep your comments brief and that you obey our three simple rules:

Pot <— kettle
Or is it only ok for you to insult people and their city?
Please be careful driving in the outlying areas tonight. With the roads wet and the temperature falling, there could be some ice around. Have a safe weekend everyone.
r02
So how does saying someone has cow stuff all over their face and may have blow flies comply with those rules. If you are going to poke others better grow a bit thicker skin as it’s kinda fun to poke back.
On a side note what do you think of Mulcair pouting like a pre teen girl after getting his butt kicked by refusing to attend the memorial service for Nathan Cirillo the soldier killed on Parliament Hill despite receiving a personal invitation to attend.
Trudeau and Harper showed they are better men sitting side by side at the ceremony putting all differences aside to pay tribute to this Canadian hero.
PrinceGeorge, yesterday you posted the following:
HGuy, perhaps you can call Zimmer and ask him to take a trip to Prince George to remove his election signs which are still littering the landscape here! Or is it too far for him? Or Palupo can do him the favour!
Just saying…. ”
Well, PrinceGeorge, today I drove down Foothills, all the way to 15th and I didn’t see a single Zimmer campaign sign. I did however see Tracy’s Liberal sign. Perhaps you should give her a call!
Just saying….!
I would suspect the volunteers from all parties will be out this weekend to clean up whatever signs remain. I think Foothills is Todd territory as his signs are the only blue ones I have seen. The bypass must be the boundary between ridings judging by the different signs on each boulevard.
Palopu..
The Senate is as archaic and redundant as your posts. Their time is done, hopefully we have heard the last of the likes of Duffy, Wallin and the rest of them. Do us all a favour and follow suit, go back to eating crow…and crying into your little blue pillow…..ok?
HG, you should give Tracy a call or are you one of those who experts others to do everything for them?
Two days ago: Zimmer signs down the Hart, quite a few, also along First Avenue…on the bypass, some of Tracy’s signs…
The election which turned out a bust for your Conservatives and the NDP is over and done with! So all signs must be removed, even by those candidates who are representing their PG riding by remote control.
Just saying!
Tracy’s volunteers removed her signs along highway 16 and did a peel out on the lawn when they left. Very professional.
I witnessed the Toad Doherty truck failing to stop for pedestrians at a crosswalk. Very professional.
