Prince George, B.C. – The Cariboo Cougars, Taba Group of Fort St James and hockey fans joined forces to raise money for breast cancer research at Kin 1 Saturday night.
While the fundraising total isn’t tallied yet, B.C. Hockey President Randy Henderson was impressed with the club’s commitment to raise money for the fight against the disease. The Cougars wore pink jerseys for “Paint the Rink Pink night”, jerseys bought by Art and Shawn Julian of the Taba Group. And in a pre-game ceremony Henderson presented the Julians with their own framed pink jerseys.
The occasion was the Cougars’ Major Midget Hockey League game against the South Island Royals, a game the home team dominated in scoring a 4-0 victory. The players don’t get much time to rest as they face off again at 9:15 this morning.
The fundraiser included admission by donation and chuck-a-puck, as well as fan prizes.
