Prince George, B.C. – The annual poppy campaign kicks off 10am Friday at Pine Centre Mall.
Past president and service officer John Scott says it will take place by the Sport Chek Doorway.
“Where we’ll have our usual cenotoph and our ladies distributing poppies and taking donations.”
He says the goal is to match last year’s $100,000 fundraising effort, with all proceeds staying local.
“I’m the service officer and I can tell you I’ve distributed a lot of funds,” says Scott. “We’re down to about $15,000 left and all that went to veterans in the community and their families.”
He says sales of Remembrance wreaths have already started and are available at their 1116 6th Avenue office.
