Ft. St. James Dr. Named Family Physician of the Year
Prince George, B.C. – A special honour for a Ft.St. James Physician. Dr. Anthon Meyer.
( at right, photo of Dr.Anthon Meyer, courtesy CFPC)The College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) has named Dr. Meyer as one of their Family Physicians of the Year.
The CFPC selects one physician from each province to receive the Reg L. Perkin Award, which recognizes exceptional care to patients, contributions to the well-being of their communities, and commitment as a researcher and educator to future generations of family doctors.
“I am humbled by this experience and grateful for the nomination” says Dr.Meyer, “I believe that as family physicians we need to focus on what should always be most important: to care with care. It is when we touch the soul of our patients and community that we truly discover that we are mere facilitators on their journey to healing.”
Dr Anthon Meyer is described as a primary care visionary with commendable leadership in providing comprehensive care to rural, remote, and First Nations communities throughout Canada.
He serves as the Medical Director of the Fort St. James Medical Clinic and practices family medicine and emergency care at Stuart Lake General Hospital.
