MLA Morris Buzzes Off

Thursday, October 29, 2015 @ 3:55 AM

Victoria, B.C.- You  could say  Prince George-Mackenzie MLA Mike Morris had a close shave with the Premier yesterday.

It’s not what you think.

MLA Morris  decided to shave off his signature moustache so he can start growing a new one  for Movember,   the month when  men are  encouraged to  grow facial hair   in support of  men who are  battling prostate cancer.

Premier Christy Clark  did  the shaving, (photo at right courtesy  Mike Morris),  morris2so in a way,  you  could say Morris was giving the Premier some lip, albeit  his upper lip.

We will have to wait until the end of Movember to see what  develops over the next month.

MLA Morris?
never heard of him.

Wow.. didnt know we had anyone in place here.. never hear a peep from him.

The previous news item – Kelly Road Secondary ..would benefit students.. remember especially Clark ..family first – Morris especially – it is his riding.

I have been around a few community events and I have met Mr Morris several times at various places and I have found him to be very approachable and willing to chat. Some of the comments above have to make me chuckle. What do some people need, their MLA to come into their basement and sit on their couch with them?

Interceptor.. I am approachable and willing to chat too..and have about the same amount for PG that Morris has done, but my time is all volunteer.

In general I do not support the Liberals and many of their views. With that said, I have met Mr. Morris on several occassions and can assure you he is an approachable friendly guy who is skilled and working very hard for his riding. Albeit through a lense quite different than mine.

Seriously? What has he done for his riding? Name one significant thing.

hardly ever see or hear from him

As the MLA I would attend city council meetings regularly in all the cities which make up my riding! Council meeting agendas are usually posted on each city’s website. Some meetings are more involved than others and the MLA can get real first hand knowledge and relate to Victoria in-depth reports about the latest needs, concerns and accomplishments.

The same could apply to MPs in our riding! Why these elected people choose to stay away from city council meetings is hard to believe! What better venue than being able to feel the pulse of what is happening?

I hate that I am defending someone with political views so far from my own, but do people seriously think that because they don’t “see” or “hear from” their MLA that it means they are not working hard? How many of you see me? …and I work my butt off!

just my opinion… I am sure you do work your butt off..but you are not working for us.. a huge difference.. If I did as little work at my job as morris seems to be doing I wouldnt have a job anymore.

BTW the article is wrong.. I have been part of Movember for a number of years and its not just about growing facial hair.

Rules for Participants

On Shadowe’en (October 31st), the complete moustache region, including the entire upper lip and the handlebar zones, must be completely shaved.

For the entire duration of Movember (Movember 1st – 35th inclusive), no hair shall be allowed to grow in the goatee zone – being any facial area below the bottom lip.

There is to be no joining of the moustache to sideburns.

Failure to conform to all of these rules may, at the discretion of the official Movember Committee, result in instant blacklisting and may void invitation to the end of MOnth festivities (this year lip-marked for Movember 35th!)

Movember Committee accepts no responsibility for lost jobs, rashes, food/beer encrustments or any other such mishaps caused to the wearer (or his partner) of a Movember Moustache. You grew it yourself.

P Val, why don’t you go meet with him and ask him, and perhaps you will change your mind. I’ve know him since the 70’s, a damn good guy to have your back.

P Val … go to mikemorrismla.ca and inform yourself.

If you work, you work, you have people who depend on you whether they are coworkers, bosses or clients. If you do not, then you just have hobbies and are not working.

Those people I mentioned, unless your report directly to them at work, really do not know all you are doing. They only know those parts that they associate with.

The same with an MLA. If you are concerned about something and you spoke with your MLA about it and the understanding was that he would take some action, then you have a baseline to judge the person about effectiveness with respect of your issue as time passes.

Otherwise you simply have an opinion without any foundation. In other words, if put to a panel of judges they would give the opinion a weight of zero when making a decision because you brought no evidence.

P Val. I do not see anything wrong about the article. It just does not include all the details you did.

Given that not all the details are there, nor are they need to tell the important message, what is wrong?

Morris is a Bond follower P Val. Look for her and Morris is sure to be close behind.

Seriously???
A guy is making an effort to do something NICE, something POSITIVE and you can’t wait to give him grief?
Mike’s a decent guy, doing a decent thing ….cut him some slack!

And this is news why????

Both of them should be explaining the triple email deletes, dealing with the foster children crisis. This is just another photo op for Clark..disgusting!!!!!!!!!!! Your politics are shining through again 250 News.

Our Politics showing through?
Mike Morris is the MLA for Prince George -Mackenzie, I frankly don’t care about his political stripes, if the sitting MLA was NDP or Green, or any other party, and was making a statement IN SUPPORT OF PROSTATE CANCER RESEARCH, I would run the photo. not EVERYTHING is political…. good lord you folks have narrow minds.

Seems that shut people up. Another one of those things that needed to be said.

It seems that it sometimes become like a group frenzy.

You guys complain that you never see him doing anything, but I’m fairly certain you’d hate everything he does anyways.

I’m so glad I don’t go through life like that.

Good observation, LittleBirdie.
