Prince George, B.C. – A tribute to and remembrance of the war veterans of Prince George was held during today’s Military Church Parade at the city’s cemetery.

Families of those lost to war, veterans who returned, members of the military, the Rocky Mountain Rangers Army Cadets, members of Branch 43 of the Royal Canadian Legion, the RCMP, senior government politicians, Prince George City Councilors and members of the public gathered today out of respect for local men and women who served and sacrificed.

Legion Chaplain Susan Scott led the service in the section of the cemetery specifically set aside for veterans.   Wreaths were laid at the foot of the veterans’ monument on behalf of the Legion, the RCMP, City Council and the Government of Canada.

Following individual prayers for those who serve their community or country, militarily and otherwise, those who gathered for the short service were invited to present their poppy at the veterans’ memorial.

The Military Church Parade is held each year on the Sunday preceding Remembrance Day.   On Wednesday, November 11th people are invited to be seated at the Civic Centre at 9am.  Following the service the parade will leave at 10:45 am, marching to the Cenotaph at City Hall.  A minute of silence will be observed at precisely 11 am.

Everyone is invited to the Legion on 6th Avenue following the ceremony.

Beautiful ceremony! Everyone works hard to make this happen.
The camera guy with the ipad camera and the gold jewelry needs to stand back and allow others an opportunity to take photos. He ends up being in everyones pictures. He is not a part of the legion or the ceremony in any way.

Ya …who is that guy? I’ve seen him at Remembrance Day ceremonies at the Cenotaph …..is he C.I.A.?

I find that the first comment is rude to say because that guy with all the gold and the I pad he fought in the war and he is on thousands of nickels and dimes with his father so plz don’t be rude about it he is doing a great job OK thank you

And drink lots of beer. I guess the Rangers are having fun. I guess commander Scott doesn’t have a space on November 11 in the parade as the Veterans have been replaced by club members.
Cheers
