Prime Minister Speaks on Paris Attacks
“Our hearts and thoughts and prayers go out to our French cousins” said Prime Minister Trudeau as he spoke moments ago about the terrorist attacks in Paris which have claimed countless lives. The Prime Minister says there is no information at this time to indicate any Canadians were among those killed. Canada has offered “all possible help” to France.
Latest information is that there were 6 sites that were subject to attacks, and the death toll keeps climbing with the latest number being more than 120. There are reports as many as 5 attackers have been killed by Paris police.
Among the sites attacked, a concert hall where as many as 100 concert goers were killed.
France has closed its borders, a state of emergency has been declared.
Canadians planning to head to France have been asked to check with their airlines to see if those flights will go ahead.
U.S. President Obama has called the attacks ” An attack on all humanity.”

“Canada has offered “all possible help” to France.” Unless it’s military, then you are on your own. Sorry guys.
Cousins? Seriously, Justin, the only way you can help, is to ensure your government does proper immigration checks, liaise with CSIS, the RCMP to ensure you are not receiving a bunch of terrorists when you open our doors to refugees with open arms.
Is now a good time to whip those F18s out? The responsibility is clearly on ISIS, and the fault is with those that let the cancer spread.
cupricity, I was going to suggest that we send Justin over there so that he can whip out his CF-18’s, but I think that we should send Rona Ambrose over instead. After all, she probably has bigger balls than Justin!
Who doesn’t??
“Our hearts and thoughts and prayers go out to our French cousins”
Time to leave “prayers” out of it. Seems to me that’s the root of all of this.
We cant blame Trudeau directly for ISIS, but weak kneed politically corrrect idiots can be blamed. Oh wait a minute that is Trudeau and his ilk. Yah thats you Bob
Canada is not some super power, we had something like six jets for bombing runs and two were grounded. But you guys think some how we will make the difference.
Harper should never have put our nation in that position. Standing behind the USA throwing rocks at people.
Our nation as peace keepers would put them selves in harms way trying to make a difference. Our soldiers would put themselves between two opposing armies or factions to try and protect the civilians. Under Harpers rule our nation thought we could influence country’s with our military might.
We need to stand for what’s right.
Let Europe deal with these scumbags and bring our people home. Close our borders as well. If you don’t close our borders we will be seeing the same thing here.
Those we elect are protected for the most part by armed guards. The citizens of our country are not. Allowing this crap to go on is our govt’s responsibility. They are the policy and law makers. Time to start protecting the innocent people of our own countries. It’s like our govt allows this crap for a reason. Easier for them to empty our bank accounts when we are all concentrating on the BS they let happen.
Hey Dave, Canada used to be a country that stood by it’s allies. You remember WW1, WW2, and Korea? Ya that happened before Canada became a “peace keeping” nation as all you liberals love to scream about. The Canada I love will help make the peace before we “keep” it.
findme- the price of peace is eternal vigilance.
Unfortunately Dumbfounded the “Sheeple” dont or cant see the bigger picture
Well Dave you just march up to Isil with your peacekeeping badge and tell them to stand down. Don’t forget to bring a box for your head. There is no talking with this group.
Our fearless leader will protect Canada by opening our country to 25k undocumented Islamic followers.. sounds like a real winner you turds elected.
Dave, great comment! There is no peace to keep over there! We can try to impose our version of civilization on them, but others have tried for decades, even by installing and propping up dictators by giving them free arms so they do as we please. Afghanistan and Iraq are good examples of how good intentions turn into predictable messes. Obama admitted that both of these ventures have resulted in failure.
Europe feels a greater threat from that tumultuous upheaval over there. We (Canada, USA, Mexico) are far removed geographically and culturally from those countries which are presently in turmoil.
The worst thing we can do is to bomb and provoke them by destroying their infrastructure and killing their women and children.
In many ways some of their customs are still stuck in the dark ages. It is not our duty to educate them by force.
Go talk to our soldiers that stood for peace. You guys think because its called peace keeping that some how our soldiers are less. I know these men that stood as peace keepers. Going in and Helping a nation in need is a harder operation than sending in planes to carpet bomb a nation.
Wake up, this problem will not go away with bombing runs.
C-51 Anyone??
And findme, WW1 WW2, were wars. The problem we are in know is not a war.
Dave, I think you have been forgetting the little thing called the Cold War. Canada spent way more time and money training to kill Soviets than it ever did peacekeeping. Sorry, but it is true. What ever happened to peacekeeping in Rwanda? or Yugoslavia? Oh wait, it was Nato that had to bomb the hell out the area to stop ethnic cleansing.

Please tell us turds who it was that first initiated this 25K intake and who the nice people were that elected them.
Bloody religion . A pox on all their houses . Long live the atheists . Long live the humanist . Long live logic .
This is truly horrible it is a sad day…..I couldn’t imagine the fear or having to live with the fear of terror attacks. Horrible to think you could be sitting there eating diner and boom your home or neighbours home is hit by a drone strike murdering some of your family or other innocent people….a sad state for sure. Sitting in a hospital and it get bombed….terror attacks are a sign of the weak minded religious nutbars. As far as blamming Trudeau that is truly laughable….. ISIS is a direct result of Bush and his right wing zealots destabilization of Iraq (Harper supported) and walking away leaving a trail of murder and chaos. Perfect conditions to grow hate.
Dumbfounded, Harper was going vet the refugees over a longer period of time. Trudeau made some election fairy tale promise to speed up the process and there is no way the proper security checks can be made. He also will reopen the coast guard center on the coast and have a tanker moratorium. These are sugar coatings that mean nothing but make the CBCer’s and blind Trudeau fans all swoon. The refuge rush has now blow up in his face.
Trudeau it is now time to put the big boy shoes on. Wonder if he will still go to the Climate party in Paris? But maybe the BS will get canceled.
ISIS is a direct result of Bush and his right wing zealots destabilization of Iraq (Harper supported) and walking away leaving a trail of murder and chaos. Perfect conditions to grow hate.
====================
This is true. As despicable as Saddam and those like him are, history shows us that people like him are needed in order to try and contain the craziest of the crazy. This current situation would not be happening if it weren’t for a de-stabilized Iraq, Syria, etc. Anyone with half a brain can figure out what ultimately caused that de-stabilization to occur.
Thinking that we can simply run some bombing campaigns to eradicate an ideology is naive and foolish. It’s a simplistic response to an complex situation. Terrorists operate throughout the world, not in one particular spot on a map. Until we are willing to deal with the people, complexes and countries who fund and support them, nothing will be solved.
French president Francois Hollande said the attacks were an “act of war” and promised France would be “merciless” in its response to the “absolute barbarity”.
They will ‘use all means’ at home and abroad to stamp out this Islamic cancer.
Now if Justin really wants to help, he could bonus the Joint Task Force 2 with a holiday trip to the middle East.
I sure don’t want 3000 potential Jihadists coming to my province and most Canadians don’t want them either. Justin will soon start backtracking on bringing in 25000 in the next month. or ever..
Syrian passport found on a Paris terrorist does not bode well to fast tracking, neither does the car pulled over in Germany although one was identified as a nationalist “known” to the police. A sad evening for those wanting to take in a concert, watch a game or even drink a cup of Java at their fave joint.
ISIS now claims 8 militants with explosive belts and machine guns were attacking precise select areas within the capital.
This may have happened in France but it’s a total attack against the free world and democracy.
I say we do everything as a country that we can to stop it. Being a peacekeeper won’t bring this to an end.
We just had rememberance day didn’t we? My family, many of yours and thousands of others have fought and given their lives so we can have the freedoms we have today, and our government thinks that waving daisies and being polite is going to protect those freedoms?
This isn’t a world of butterflies and cupcakes anymore, it’s in a bad place. I want my freedoms protected, and those of our allies and we should be active in that.
What an honour to our fallen in all past conflicts. Let’s just roll over and hope we get our bellies scratched.
Nows not the time to stand down, now is the time to rise up as a leader in the free world and show what those freedoms and democracy mean to us. Now is the time to show those psycho,s that the risk of us losing that can bring out the best in us as a country and nation and show them their actions don’t cause us fear.. It only made us stronger.
Get some balls Justin!,,
Blaming Trudeau is completely irrational! Would those who try to lay blame on the new government blame Mulcair if he had won the election?
Nah, they would blame Mulcair’s father.
We have not always stood by our allies, remember Vietnam and the Iraq war. We are our own nation and do not have to commit acts we see as unjust.
ISIS would love nothing more than to create an islamophobic divide in the world. Helping their cause. Refugees are fleeing the countries these dirtbags operate in.
Now lets ask the tough questions:
Where did IS begin? As the US and NATO invaded countries and tore apart the fabric of their societies, displaced their skilled workers with foreign contractors and made their streets unsafe for the common citizens, an uprising began. What would you do if it happened in your country?
I haveyet to see our “leader”, cough cough, mention by word who the terrorist are. Cannot seem to bring himself to say the “I” word.
Hey Justin time to put on your big boy shoes.
Tough questions
How is IS funded?
Saudi money? Aren’t they our allies?
Who is buying ISIS oil that funds their cause?
Turkey is supporting IS to take out the Kurds? isn’t Turkey a NATO friend? Aren’t the kurds fighting ISIS?
Who is fighting for ISIS? some religious zealots and many who are looking for a paycheque because their country has been turned into a war zone and they would still like to feed their families.
ISIS is a blight on humanity, yes. But we need to ask how they came about so quickly and with such ferocity.
Maybe we should’ve thought twice before we started to bomb other Nations.
Sadam, Khaddafi, and Assad may be/have been evil bastards, but the general public in those countries had jobs and could send their children off to school or outside to play and lead Normal lives. their countries have been torn apart, with no relief in sight.
We’ve seen the enemy, it is us.
In my opinion, not enough is being done to follow the money of who is funding these sick POS. Bombs, guns and grenades don’t grow on olive trees, or in poppy fields.
Is it the Saudis? Iranians? North Koreans? Black market Russian corporations? If we (as a collective western world) could cut off the funding, then ISIL would be somewhat declawed for the most part. And then punish those (economically) who support them.
Whose providing the arms? The real money is this situation is to provide arms to both sides and who does that better than anyone? That’s right, the USA, who’ve been making a killing (one way or another) since the Kennedys and the Rockefellers provided war technology to Hitler. The Americans have been back-dooring missiles to the Ukrainians who’ve then been making some side cash by peddling them to radicals with enough resources to afford them . . . who happen to be ISIS, funded by the Saudis (who are American allies). Sounds crazy, right?
@BAWS: “This may have happened in France but it’s a total attack against the free world and democracy. I say we do everything as a country that we can to stop it. Being a peacekeeper won’t bring this to an end.”
So, now that you’ve done your foam-at-the-mouth thing, how do you suggest the world fight an enemy who cannot be confronted and defeated with conventional war? And how many civilians are you willing to kill to attack an enemy that disappears into the populace at will?
Oh I suspect much has been done to follow the money, but that the trail leads to destinations that many don’t have a willingness to visit.
Unfortunately, I don’t think this is a simple issue of “us” vs. “them”. It doest feel like that type of war. I think it’s more like “us” vs. “them” with a whole pile of powerful people in the middle who will decide how much carnage is acceptable before real action is taken.
I think that if these attacks keep coming, it’s only a matter of time before a nation somewhere is going to go alone and decide that “enough is enough”, and unleash an attack in the region like we’ve never seen. If and/or when that happens, I think all hell is going to break loose. There are too many global interests active in the region for it to not.
Brother Gecko, i think if you followed the money, it would not lead to the usual suspects, and that is why it isn’t being looked into.
“Maybe we should’ve thought twice before we started to bomb other Nations.”
Bingo!
Perhaps its time we all google and watch Eisenhower’s departing speech.
It’s all about oil… OK that question has been answered. Now it’s time to turn sand into glass and resolve this issue with a geothermal approach. The oil will still be there when it’s all done.
Churchill predicted this early in the last century. If in fact the ‘perps’ are muslim radicals then the moderates are condoning these actions by omission………you gotta love religion :(
“Perhaps its time we all google and watch Eisenhower’s departing speech”

But the ‘military industrial complex’ still has to be financed. And looking at just WHO actually holds the purse-strings and has the capability to do that is the subject no one wants to talk about. Case in point, former Finance Minister Paul Martin giving one of them the green light to move a trust fund out of Canada tax free, after the tax experts at Revenue Canada had determined such a move would be taxable. And the only ones who objected in Parliament? The Bloc Quebecois! So now they can be classed forever as raging anti-Semites along with all their other treasonous failings. At least they had the guts to question what wasn’t right all the others there so visibly lacked.
Now I hate to be the dude in the tinfoil hat but War profiteering is the biggest business and produces the most money. The Rothschild’s and the Rockefeller’s are rolling in their blood money. No matter who loses this fight they win. This is another “push” to motivate the rest of the world into more senseless violence.
Islamic State is a terrifying threat to society, the Paris attack showcases the kind of threat they pose. A demonstration of their evil. I don’t think we’re doing enough to stop them. And if you look at the Syrian refugees that people are taking in you’ll notice that most are middle-aged men. Not women or children. Crime has increased 400% in Sweden since they took in the refugees. I believe in a safe haven for people in need, but we have to look out for our own countries interests first.
Paris was nothing compared to what these people do on their own soil and unless we want it to escalate to that point on Western soil the whole world better get involved to stop these psychopaths..
To bury your head and think we’re safe over here is not the answer to this problem. To simply blame the U.S. Is not the answer either. Regardless of how this group began is completely irrelevant at this point. The fact is that they exist and unless their stopped it will grow and continue and we will experience what did over here. Anyone who doesn’t believe that is naive and kidding themselves.
War sucks. I’ve lost family in it. The world be way better if we could all cohabit together and get along, but that simply isn’t the case.
Don’t some of you who are against this even fell a little morally obligated to end this? People are being ruthlessly murdered in front of their parents and children in absolutely sickening and terrifying ways. As a world how can we allow that?
I guess when your out for a nice dinner some evening and a group of armed nut cases barges in and kills your loved ones or friends in front of you with knive, bombs and bullets you may ask yourself”oh now I get it”. And if you don’t think it can happen here because we’re an ocean away your completely out of touch.
This needs to be brought to an end sooner than later, and it will require our involvement.
I’m not about to bury my head in the sand and forget all the sacrifices that people made for me and my country and the Western world to be free.
This needs to be brought to an end. It may be ugly and take time, but it needs to end.
I have followed this issue in the Middle East since the first Gulf war. Clearly we are now and have all along been played by those who are in power. We have money, power, useful idiots, and twisted ideologies as the genus of the terror state.
The leader of isis is a Mossad agent and even had his picture taken with US Senator John McCain at one point when the anti Assad uprising was considered just revolution. Israel acts as the air force for isis bombing isis enemies in the Assad regime and hezbollah. Israel also treats the wounded trafiki terrorists as allies in the fight against Assad, most of which are isis fighters. Ask yourself why has isis never attacked Israeli interests and always seems to push the Israeli agenda further.
The Americans have armed and trained isis from the get go. Of the 5000 fighters the pentagon armed and trained only 5 fighters (by their own reports) did not switch sides and flip to isis. That is 99.9% of the fighters trained and armed by America flipped to fight for isis. To this day America continues to air drop arms and ammo for the fighters on the ground. For Obama its a proxy war with little blow back for America. One can tell who the ring leaders of isis are in America by the way they go apocalyptic over the Russian bombing of trafiki terrorists, and even go so far as to suggest America should impose a no-fly zone over Syria to prevent Russian involvement (a no fly zone by supplying shoulder fired missiles to the terrorist that are ‘on our side’).
Turkey is the logistics center for all the fighting. All the arms, Toryota pick ups, and trained fighters enter Syria via rat line that connects Ukraine, Georgia, and Turkey in fueling the unrest in Syria and Iraq. All of which are considered Canadian allies, a NATO member and special NATO partners. Turkey wants to ethnically cleanse the Kurds using isis and remove a Shia from power over their Sunni brothers. Erdogan is one of the most dangerous leaders in the world right now, in a league with Netanyahu and the Kim regime in North Korea.
The House of Saud and the Gulf monarchies are financing the whole Sunni Shia proxy war. Saudi Arabia is running a $250 billion dollar deficit at nearly 15% GDP and was recently downgraded by the credit agencies as unsustainable for a single industry economy. Their price war with Russia in the oil markets and their funding of wars in Yeman, Syria, and Iraq is going to bankrupt them before they ever ‘win’ the war.
Clearly the kid gloves need to come off with our so called ‘allies’ in the region. Clearly the cloak needs to come off of the activities of the hidden agencies like the CIA, Mossad, MI6, and even within our own Canadian intelligence for allowing this type of behavior to be enabled. They are using secrecy to aid and fund and funnel terrorism for the interests of a select .001% of the population and have no qualms about setting these destabilizing influences onto our own societies.
I think what we are seeing happen here is that Russia has exposed in large part the nexus between the West and the terrorist architecture in Syria. The ring leaders in the west now need to up the anti with ground operations to remove Assad and thus need to draw in western forces… therefor unleash even more heinous crimes in a country that could easily flip and lead the charge.
The whole population in the region of Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Palestine, and Kurdish regions of Turkey have been subject to some of the most inhuman atrocities of our times. They are all either fully radicalized or so damaged by post traumatic stress that they are now capable of all manors of mind manipulation as a way out of their own life stories of horror. For those that use terror to manipulate events this is now a rich pool from which to draw from.
We have been played. Europe has not only been played, but invaded by the radicalized youth of these destroyed homelands they come from.
My hope is that Trudeau will have some integrity in dealing with those that would enable the dark side from within Canadian foreign affairs and Canadian intelligence; and that in bringing over any refugees he limits it to women and children for the sake of the future of our own women and children. Fighting aged men have no part immigrating from that part of the world in these radicalized times.
IMO legislation that ignores our Charter of Rights like Bill C-51 and the Patriot Act in America; I don’t believe are there to protect our citizens; but rather are there to protect the power grab of those that would enslave our citizens with their unaccountable exercise of national powers.
America and their neo-con cohorts need to be called out on their style of proxy war cloak and dagger spook activities that only serve to further inflame the middle east in radicalized proxy wars, terrorism, and human rights abuses. They are the genus of all that is the war on terror and the results in Paris are in part because of neo-con policies the world over… at least enabled by those policies as much as any radicalization of islamists and their twisted use of religion.
IMHO
Arnold Schwarzenegger; Is there two of you? your views need to be sent to our Government. How do we get Trudeaus and other Government officials emails to let them know how we feel , we need to be very careful who we bring into our Country.
